Independent Grassroots Party

edit

http://www.ballot-access.org/1996/allvotes96.html has an Independent Grassroots Party, also in MN, with John Birrenbach as its candidate. No idea if it was a split, or what. Шизомби (talk) 02:34, 24 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yes. Minnesota Grassroots Party split in 1996 with some of its members choosing not to attend the Grassroots Party Nominating Convention, including founding member Oliver Steinberg, and forming the short-lived Independent Grassroots party. John Birrenbach was the Independent Grassroots Presidential candidate and Dan R. Vacek ran for US Representative (MN District 4) as the Independent Grassroots candidate. Shortly after, members of the Independent Grassroots Party established the Legal Marijuana Now political party, which continues to be active in cannabis law reform.
