Copying within Wikipedia requires proper attribution

edit

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Grassroots into Legal Marijuana Now Party. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. The attribution has been provided for this situation, but if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for that duplication. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 14:14, 20 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Marvelous Cannabis Leaf

edit

Hello The Hammer of Thor,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Marvelous Cannabis Leaf for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Chase (talk) 02:21, 18 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

File permission problem with File:Dan Vacek at Rice Street Parade 2016.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Dan Vacek at Rice Street Parade 2016.jpg, which you've attributed to Alice Friedmeyer Vacek. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Majora (talk) 00:52, 18 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Violating BLP isn't helpful to Wikipedia - it is actually harmful. The community (not me, the community) created the policies and guidelines for good reasons. Please start taking them seriously and save us all from drama that can be easily avoided. Jytdog (talk) 03:32, 8 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Please do not start a war @Jytdog: and assume good faith -- The Hammer of Thor (talk) 23:52, 8 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
There is no war. There is only you establishing a pattern of ignoring policy. The community ends up blocking or topic banning people who establish such patterns. A tag has been placed on File:Mark Elworth.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted content borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. — Train2104 (t • c) 21:58, 25 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Train2104: I didn't have an opportunity to contest the nomination before the image was deleted. Please restore the file Mark Elworth to the status of file permission problem so I can verify the permission. -- The Hammer of Thor (talk) 22:51, 25 February 2017 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free image File:Zenger 1993 logo.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Zenger 1993 logo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 19:33, 9 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

A tag has been placed on Draft:Elvy Musikka requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://www.cannabiscupwinners.com/cupwinners/people/421-elvy-musikka.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

Here's another recently published book saying $140B global black market: Handbook of global security policy (2014). I'd go with that and one of the UN estimates. A deep dive on market data and the interrelationships with legalization and taxation could go to Cannabis industry maybe. The black market article can be updated too with a summary. - Bri (talk) 00:33, 15 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

The article George McMahon (activist) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Does not appear notable. Nearly all the sources are only brief mentions of him.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ‡ Єl Cid of ᐺalencia ᐐT₳LKᐬ 16:29, 18 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Non-free rationale for File:Marijuana Reform Party logo.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Marijuana Reform Party logo.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F6 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. I think you need to do a lot more work on this if you intend it to redirect to the list of names ... as it is, there's zero way of getting from a search for "Ganja" to the city in Azerbaijan. --Golbez (talk) 18:42, 16 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Your draft article, Draft:Mark Elworth Jr.

edit

Hello, The Hammer of Thor. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Mark Elworth Jr.".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for uploading File:Nebraska Legal Marijuana NOW Party on April 20, 2018.jpg.

Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Speedy deletion nomination of Mark Elworth Jr.

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Mark Elworth Jr. requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mark Elworth Jr.. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discussion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Speedy deletion nomination of File:Krystal Gabel in 2020.jpg

edit

A tag has been placed on File:Krystal Gabel in 2020.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement of https://www.burlington-record.com/2021/03/05/new-political-party-forming-in-brush-2/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Legal Marijuana NOW Certificate of New Political Party in State of Nebraska.jpg

edit

Thank you for uploading File:Legal Marijuana NOW Certificate of New Political Party in State of Nebraska.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. — Ирука13 06:35, 19 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Independent Grassroots Party Banner.jpg

edit

A tag has been placed on File:Independent Grassroots Party Banner.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused duplicate or lower-quality copy of another file on Wikipedia having the same file format, and all inward links have been updated.

Hello,

I noticed your changes to the article on Minnesota's Legal Marijuana Now Party adding an exclamation point to the page's title and text. You mentioned the Office of the Secretary of State using an exclamation point now, but I can't find that anywhere outside of their logo. Can you cite sources to this formal title?

I left a note on the talk page and would appreciate some input & sourcing for this. A cursory check of the article's sources shows consistent use of the name without an exclamation point. ~Malvoliox (talk | contribs) 18:13, 4 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
