Old name

Was the former name Corporation of Madras or Madras Corporation? My Birth Certificate says Corporation of Madras in English and Chennai Maanagaratchi in Tamil. --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 08:50, 18 December 2012 (UTC)

It was Corporation of Madras. Further, I think, the current official name is Corporation of Chennai. Chennai corporation appears to be a casual translation of Chennai Maanagaratchi. --Anbu121 (talk me) 09:09, 18 December 2012 (UTC)

The new name according to the TN govt., as changed on 30/01/2016 is Greater Chennai Corporation and has been changed to effect this. (Aditya.cr (talk) 13:46, 30 January 2016 (UTC))
