Amerie

edit

I've just had to block IP editor 129.29.227.2 (talk · contribs) for repeatedly removing, without discussion on talk pages or explanation in edit summaries, the paragraph about thelondonpaper alleging plagiarism from an Amerie song for this one. Everything in the paragraph is true and verifiable; the citation is there to aid that verification. I realise Knowles has thousands of dedicated fans, but if some of them are wanting to erase from Wikipedia any sourced and verifiable content that casts her in a negative light, I suggest that they familiarise themselves with Wikipedia:Neutral point of view or take their time elsewhere. Good. That editor must be blocked if he/she kept on removing contributed articles without valid reason or without consulting the Talk Page. BritandBeyonce 10:04, 2 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Unfortunately, it's been removed without explanation again, this time by Yerboylc3 (talk · contribs). It might be one thing if it's placing undue weight on the thelondonpaper writer's point-of-view (i.e. if the vast majority of critics said it was very original and/or wasn't similar to the Amerie song); if the people removing it are opting not to explain themselves or comment, though, it just looks like they don't want it in the article only because they don't agree with anything negative being said about Knowles or the song. For the record, I like many of Knowles's singles, including this one. Extraordinary Machine 20:45, 2 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
IP editor 90.201.13.214 (talk · contribs), without bothering to discuss the issue here (as requested in a note left in the article) or explain in an edit summary, has removed the paragraph; he/she also blanked the discussion on this page. This is completely unacceptable. Extraordinary Machine 20:50, 4 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Another IP editor, 82.47.80.10 (talk · contribs), has removed it, blanking most of the article in the process. Unfortunately, again not a word in the edit summary or on the talk page. Extraordinary Machine 00:06, 5 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

' Although it should be noted that Amerie's "One Thing" was a "blatant steal" from Beyonce's "Crazy In Love" ' I removed this as there is not really anything to back it up. Anyway they were both produced by the same producer, so I don't really see how Rich Harrison can be accused of stealing from himself. Thesean43 18:35, 13 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

  • With the album version of the song being available digitally as soon as the album was released, it debuted on the UK Singles Chart at number 152 after the video aired in July 2007. The album version peaked at number seventy-seven one week before the Freemasons remix became available. Because of heavy radio airplay of the Freemasons remix, as soon as it was available, the song climbed sixty places to number seventeen the following week, and then to number twelve, giving Knowles her eleventh top twenty hit in the UK. "Green Light" became Knowles's highest charting single on downloads alone on the UK Singles Chart without a prominent featured artist. The UK commercial CD single was cancelled at the last minute.
  • The video was popular enough in the United States to reach the iTunes Store Top 10 R&B/Soul Videos chart, before any promotion or single release for the song. The video has reached the Top 100 Video downloads for all genres. --Efe (talk) 10:24, 11 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
