Grip (job) → Grip (filmmaking) – Right now we have Gaffer (filmmaking), Double (filmmaking), Music editor (filmmaking), and Sound editor (filmmaking) but Grip (job) which is inconsistent. I tried a search that found no articles with "(job)" in this meaning. There are some like Cooper (profession) and Computer (occupation) but I don't think that is necessary here when we can use the industry. mossypiglet (talk) Go blue! 20:14, 9 October 2022 (UTC)

• Move to grip (occupation) per Netoholic. They make a good point that grips work with TV shows, and commercials as well. It also looks like "grip" is used in theatre productions as well. Blumenfeld's Dictionary of Acting and Show Business says a grip is a "stagehand in a theater, or on a film or television set, assigned to various crews (lighting, sound, camera, construction, etc.) to do any and every general task as necessary." The problem is if consistency is a concern we should move the other ones with the '(filmmaking)' dab too but Double (occupation), Music editor (occupation, and Sound editor (occupation) but then they wouldn't be specific enough. Is there something shorter than 'film and television production' we could use as a DAB?—blindlynx 16:01, 10 October 2022 (UTC)

Looking at the articles for double, music editor, and sound editor, I am seeing more reason to make it "occupation". For music and sound editors, they work in video games as well, so "film and television" would not suffice. Erik (talk | contrib) ^{(ping me)} 16:51, 10 October 2022 (UTC)

• Move to grip (occupation) As the original nominator I now agree with Netoholic and Erik that (occupation) is more appropriate. However it seems that (occupation) is more appropriate for all of the pages I gave as examples as all four are used in some television and other productions. So if anyone knows the reason why all of these articles were named (filmmaking) in the first place, if there is a reason, we should consider that but otherwise it would be logical to move/propose moves on all of them. mossypiglet (talk • contribs) 14:22, October 11, 2022 (UTC)

  I agree, we should look at those others in future RMs because there may be some nuances that need to be examined (for example, I think Music editor (filmmaking) should be moved to primary), but suggest waiting for this one to conclude. -- Netoholic @ 19:56, 11 October 2022 (UTC)

  Considering most of us here seem to agree on moving it to grip (occupation) rather than the originally proposed title maybe we should proceduraly close this and reopen it as a batch move request of all of these to whatever 'whatever (occupation)'—blindlynx 00:43, 12 October 2022 (UTC)
