I have moved the Guns N' Roses discography section to this new page. Have added certifications from other countries such as UK, Austria, Switzerland and Denmark as well. Will231982 13:40, 2 October 2006 (UTC)Will231982Reply

I have added the live in tokyo dvds could someone link them to the articles for me as i am still learning how to use wikipedia--82.42.250.34 23:59, 22 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Someone should really put the albums into one of those tables used on other bands discography pages, along with sales information if possible. I realise there aren't many of them but it would bring the page in line with other similar ones and might encorage people to add some missing info. Danikat 23:20, 27 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Chinese Democracy should not be listed

edit

Since this is an encyclopedia and not a science fiction book I think that Chinese Democracy should not be included. It has never been released. Neither the record company not the artists give any dates for its release. And why did you think it's going to be Geffen and not Intrescope or Universal or whatever? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kreepin Deth (talkcontribs) 19:17, 13 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Ummm... Yeas it should. Just because it isn't showing up doesn't mean it doesn't exist. And Guns N' Roses is still on Geffen. I think you ought to check your sources before making large accusations. Burningclean [speak] 19:30, 13 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
Hmmm... "Just because it isn't showing up doesn't mean it doesn't exist" - very interesting argument. I think the opposite: discography is the list of RELEASED records.
All the recent rumours are just repeating each other and quoting one another. There were no official statements from Guns N' Roses or Geffen. And even if there were they don't mean anything. If the album has not been released despite 7+ years of promisses (I think the title was announced around Xmas 2000) that means that Axl Rose and Geffen can not be trusted on this. They may have tons of material in various stages of readiness but that doesn't say anything about when/if the album is going to be released. For all we know Axl may spend another 15 years perfecting it.
Anyway I'm not starting edit war because of this but I think that Chinese Democracy should not be included in the discography.Kreepin Deth

Sweet Child O' Mine Alternative Version?

edit

I've seen this alternative version (all black and white) on YouTube, but has it been officially released? If not, should it be listed? There are many more "alternative versions": It's So Easy (unreleased but later used as the basis for Live Era video), for example, and MTV used to show Don't Cry (Alt. Lyrics) version as well. And there are two versions of Garden of Eden (two different takes, and one is without subtitles at the bottom and Matt destroys the drum kit in the end). Sales Figures

edit

it seems to me that (as usual) the sales figures are out of date.

for example, apetitie for destruction is listed as 15 million, but it is probably a lot higher:

http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=105502

is there not also dispute as to wether they have sold 90million or 100million worldwide?

Chinese Democracy is #1 in Canada

I don't know how to add this to the table, but someone should. Classic Case (talk) 15:31, 29 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

#1 in Europe

edit

Surely this is more important than individual european charts fx Switzerland or Norway - I mean, otherwise it would be like reporting the Texas chart but not the US one. Also it is an important fact, since it proves, that though Chinese Democracy hasn't hit the top in all the european charts, the combined sales are still strong enough to dethrone the other acts - such as the Killers - which may beat them in a territory here and there, but which don't beat them in total. I seriously hope someone will add the European chart to the discography, even though it means we have to go back and see if previous GnR releases also charted there (I'm not sure when the chart was started)

Alright, just checked, the chart was created in 2005 - so its unlikely that other GnR releases have charted on it. And sorry, forgot to sign before. But someone plz add Chinese Democracy being #1 on the European Top 100, thanks 62.107.24.213 (talk) 11:32, 5 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Unrleased / cover tracks

edit

Is it logical to put in a section (at the bottom) regarding unreleased but LEAKED tracks that have not made it on any album? For example, there were a lot of leaked tracks for Chinese Democracy but most ended up on the album so they wouldn't be included on this list. Also, maybe we could compile a list of cover songs that GNR has done outside of the studio? Just a thought. - Jeff

No definitely not. See WP:DISCOG for rules regarding these ideas. Andre666 (talk) 17:00, 7 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Why can't we find global shipment figures?

edit
  • Appetite for Destruction - 30 million copies+
  • GN'R Lies - 10 million copies+
  • Use Your Illusion I - 16 million copies+
  • Use Your Illusion II - 15 million copies+
  • "The Spaghetti Incident?" - 240, 000 copies in Canada, 1 million copies in USA, 100, 000 copies in UK...don't know a total figure
  • Chinese Democracy - 1.7 million copies+

We can get up Appetite and CD, but finding info on the rest is tough. Can people get on it, though? (The Elfoid (talk) 01:27, 1 February 2009 (UTC))Reply

Cover of Love

edit

There was another cover album made by GNR called COver of Love. Maybe someone who knows something about it ( I only own it, so probably not me) should strart the article or first inlist it on this page. - Michiel —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.204.18.133 (talk) 23:44, 4 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Guns N' Roses Family Tree

edit

Is there a reason why this double-cd hasn't be included yet? I think it should. http://www.amazon.com/Family-Tree-Guns-N-Roses/dp/B003B8NUYQ Joey 01:25, 28 October 2010 (UTC)

Because it's not an official release. Andre666 (talk) 14:16, 24 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
Is it unofficial because it was released by the label Music Brokers and not by Geffen? Could it be classified as a compilation album? Should unofficial releases have a dedicated section? Joey 01:25, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
No, unofficial releases mean nothing. And it fails WP:NOTABILITY. I once created a custom GNR compilation called The Best of Guns N' Roses to chuck on my old mp3 player, should we include that?! Fail. Andre666 (talk) 18:27, 28 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
There's was no need to such an answer, your reference to your personal experience doesn't apply. As for the notability issue, Google gives about 300,000 results for "guns n' roses family tree". Furthermore, I'm not proposing a new article, just to include it in the current Discography article, if we reach a consensus of course.Joey 16:01, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
Don't mention 'consensus', because there is no way that Guns N' Roses Family Tree will ever be included in this article as a matter of consensus and agreement. That is just the end of it. Andre666 (talk) 22:29, 31 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Cite error

edit

This edit introduced a cite error at the bottom of the References section — Cite error: A list-defined reference named "United_StatesGuns_N.27_RosesSweet_ChildsingleCertRef" is not used in the content (see the help page). — and added the article to an error tracking category. Perhaps someone who is familiar with maintaining these tables can fix this error. ‑‑Mandruss  01:34, 1 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

UPDATE: Guys we can't leave the article in the error tracking category indefinitely, so I am reverting the edit. This necessitates also reverting the next edit, which was dependent on the first one.

Please don't make edits that introduce errors and then leave without fixing them. If you create an error and don't know how to fix it, either go to "View history" and undo your edit(s), or seek assistance at Wikipedia:Help desk. Thanks. ‑‑Mandruss  05:23, 4 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Reorganizing the studio albums

edit

I want to propose excluding G N' R Lies and "The Spaghetti Incident?" from the studio albums because they aren't suited to the studio album definition. "Studio album" is defined as a recording primarily of newly written and recorded or previously unreleased material. Half of G N' R Lies was recorded in 1986, and the second half two years later, while "The Spaghetti Incident?" is a covers album. Appreciate the feedback.--Retrohead (talk) 22:11, 24 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

GN'R Lies, the EP

edit

GN'R Lies has been said to be a pair of EPs, combining the preexisting one with an acoustic one. For years this was referred to by various sources, and hinted at by the labelling of the two sides of the record as "1986" and "1988" (in addition to including both the "Suicide" and "Lies" covers in the one release). But with the 2018 box set release of Appetite for Destruction, with disc two describing the sets of songs as "EPs", it feels more officially acknowledged by the band that these are two EPs, packaged together as an LP/CD that they don't consider to be amongst their "studio albums". Should this change be made here? SweetTaylorJames (talk) 07:39, 12 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
