Inconsistency

The article on Gelato says that Gelato is ice cream. This article implies that they are distinct. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.194.48.136 (talk) 10:46, 8 October 2013 (UTC)

They are distinct and you are incorrect. Gelato and ice cream are different. There is a different percentage of butterfat, and they are made differently. Gelato has far less air. It is far closer to custard than ice cream, but it is classified as "an ice cream product" such as bagels are classified as "a bread product." Pookerella (talk) 04:43, 21 January 2014 (UTC)

Franchise operation - and more

I looked up this article to find out whether the company still had franchise ice-cream parlors, but I find the topic covered totally unclearly. As mentioned above, the article does not cover when the company expanded out of ice-cream production into retail locations, except in the lede - in fact the 1960s are absent from the history section - and other than the very general map and the coverage of the India incident, I find nothing on where it has stores (in some regions of the US and Canada? spread across both nations? Have they expanded, contracted ... ?) Also the "stores" I have seen are sit-down ice-cream parlors rather than counter service retailers of tubs and take-away cones (in contrast to Baskin-Robbins). Perhaps this changed, but I believe the retail operation should be characterized in the article. Further, when did they move to Oakland, and where do they have manufacturing plants? Häagen-Dazs

The article states that the name does not include an umlaut, when it obviously does.Wspock50 (talk) 15:30, 29 November 2014 (UTC)
