This article claimed that the ship was named after the battle of Cape Finisterre (1805). It seems to me rather more likely that it was named after the first or second battle of Cape Finisterre in 1747 as these were more unalloyed victories. A definitive answer would be useful Gdr 11:46, 2005 Mar 17 (UTC).
