I'll take a look at this shortly. Pickersgill-Cunliffe (talk) 10:21, 19 October 2023 (UTC)
Prelim
edit- British Empire, beam, and Kilowatt are duplicated links
- Removed
- Article is stable
- Image correctly licensed
- Earwig reports copyvio unlikely
Lede and infobox
edit- "First-class" doesn't need a capital
- Removed.
- Ibid "Admirals"
- Removed.
- You're linking the wrong Michael de Courcy; this one died thirty years before Pylades was launched
- Well noted. This one also seems not have achieved the rank of Admiral so I have amended the text.
- "led to the"
- Added.
- Flag in class operators section is unnecessary
- Removed.
- "1267" needs a comma
- Added. And to other instances of similar numbers.
- Length between perpendiculars differs between main text and infobox
- Corrected.
Design and development
edit- Link Royal Navy at first mention of "navy"
- Added.
- "Pylades-class" no need for hyphen
- Removed.
- bm needs linking
- Added.
- You repeat "The engines", but there's only one?
- Corrected and reworded to avoid the repeat.
- Link broadside
- Added.
- Be consistent with numbers - you use "Ten" but "20"
- Corrected per MOS:NUMERAL.
Construction and career
edit- at Sheerness Dockyard
- Changed.
- for machinery
- Changed.
- "after disappearing 18 days beforehand" this sounds interesting, do we have any more context?
- Unfortunately the report has limited detail.
- "was the last Royal Navy to be deployed" missing word
- Added.
- Pylades serving on three distinct stations in an eight month period is a little strange. Do we know what she was doing/why she was moving?
- The sources do not seem to say. Reading between the lines it seems that the vessel required repair more frequently.
- "with much the copper" missing word
- Added.
- "on 13 January" missing year
- Added.
- "the vessel paid" sp
- Corrected.
- I know nothing about the Chesapeake affair, but considering you describe Pylades as having a "critical role" in stopping "the altercation"(?) and as such preventing the UK from joining the ACW, I think more than two sentences could be devoted to expanding on this
- The source does not go into a lot of detail but I have added some context that I hope helps the reader. The sentence is linked to the wikipedia article that does give more information on the affair (although it does not currently mention the corvette's role) so I hope that suffices.
- "Buckey Point" sp
- Amended.
References
edit- BWAS 1793–1817 isn't a 2014 publication, nor does it include any mention of Pylades. Assume you mean Winfield, Rif (2014). British Warships in the Age of Sail 1817–1863: Design, Construction, Careers and Fates. Barnsley, South Yorkshire: Seaforth. ISBN 978-1-84832-169-4.
- You are exactly right. Fixed.

- @Pickersgill-Cunliffe: Thank you very much. I hope you found it as interesting as I did to discover the stories connected with this ship. Seeing your edits also prompted me that I need to update the table in the Contest. I plan to add this one to November's list when it becomes available. simongraham (talk) 00:28, 2 November 2023 (UTC)
