editI believe some reference should be made to Dartmoor's most infamous escaped prisoner, the fictional Selden from the Sherlock Holmes classic "The Hound of the Baskervilles." —Preceding unsigned comment added by Semmons (talk • contribs) 06:10, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
Dartmoor Prison Massacre
editI've got a relative (Josiah Cobb, 7g grandfather) who was a POW in Dartmoor during the War of 1812, survived the drunken massacre mentioned in the article, and wrote about it after his release in addition to creating a model of the prison upon repatriation to the US. I've got original copies of books he published on the experience, and can track down the other stuff through family records, however as it's a relative I'm wondering what the best way to work it in would be. Suggestions? 71.198.127.97 (talk) 07:56, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
Sorry I can't help- I would be very interested in getting a copy of the book if they are available as I have family in Princetown (The village, not the jail!) --193.61.159.26 (talk) 04:41, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

Memorial to American POWs 1812
editThe Illustrated London News (June 1928) states "the gateway was erected by the National Society of United States Daughters of 1812 and built by convict labour, whose chairman, Mrs Samuel Williams Earle" arranged the unveiling of it on 30 May 1928. "[The memorial] commemorates the 218 American prisoners of war who died in Dartmoor Prison between 1813 and 1815". — Preceding unsigned comment added by Marshape (talk • contribs) 13:34, 29 September 2015 (UTC)
