editThere is no English page on this famous Cuban singer. I'm still editing it at the moment. There is a German page on her.
- There's a need for sources verifying the information in the article- not Mompie's own web sites, but the newspapers, magazines, and books that have written about her. I was able to confirm that a collection called "La Rumba Soy Yo" won a Grammy, but I couldn't find much writing about Mompie's involvement in that project. Did Mompie herself win a Grammy? I'm a little confused on this point, and it's the major claim to her notability right now. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 21:12, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
Please check out http://www.cubamusic.com/musica_cubana/CUB/EN/haila-maria--mompie_92.aspx —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ljpicard (talk • contribs) 21:26, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
- That seems to be a store- the kinds of sources that are needed are published sources, like newspapers, magazines, books, or even significant music web sites- but not stores that are selling her albums. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 21:28, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
I'm glad we agree the la rumba soy yo won a grammy. The page http://www.discuba.com/articulos/conferencia_rumbai.htm might be linked to a shop as well, but shows that Haila was one of the singers who won the Grammy. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ljpicard (talk • contribs) 21:39, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
- That link does mention her name, but it isn't about her. What's needed are sources that are about her, and confirm the information in the article. It's fine if they are in Spanish, if English sources aren't available. Famous singers are the subjects of many articles in newspapers and music magazines. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 21:42, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
Well, not if they are from Cuba. At least not in English. Sorry, can't read Spanish as good as i wish. I've been in Cuba many times and she is a celebrity over there. Maybe you should just visit there and proof it for your self. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ljpicard (talk • contribs) 21:44, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
- I'd love to visit Cuba- I've heard it is beautiful- but that wouldn't help the article, since Wikipedia requires sources verifying the information in all articles. I wish you well in your search for sources; even if you can't read Spanish, you should still be able to identify an article that is about her, and then use a machine translation like Google Translate to gather information. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 21:46, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
http://www.am.com.mx/Nota.aspx?ID=397085 found one. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ljpicard (talk • contribs) 21:47, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
- There you are! Even with my lousy Spanish I can see that's more like it. I remember enough high-school Spanish to understand "una de las cantantes más importantes de Cuba." -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 21:49, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
So will you now stop bugging me and return to your job as a government worker please. :> Thank you and good night.
- Hey, be nice- I fixed your capitalization and punctuation errors in the title and created a redirect from Haila. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 21:54, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
I'm not trying to offend you. I just think it is hard to find newspaper proof of events that happened before 2002 (especialy outside the US and Europe). I think that if you enter a name in google and receive more than 26000 hits it shows that there might be something interesting. And I was also just trying to help. Help to fill gaps in Wiki. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ljpicard (talk • contribs) 22:00, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
- It is hard sometimes to find good web sources for some subjects- for my article on Billy Tipton, I had to go the library and check out books in order to get the information I needed to develop the article. Took me several weeks to get it to a reasonably good quality. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 22:04, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
