Wikipedia capitalization of "Hang On"
editCorrect capitalization for this album title (according to both Wikipedia's MoS, and common industry practices) is "Hang On Little Tomato" with a capitalized "On". This is because here, "On" isn't a preposition (we're not told to go and hang, on a little tomato) but part of the two-word verb "to hang on" (Hang On, Little Tomato), and it gets capitalized along its verb.

(Accordingly, the article should be moved to the correctly capitalized name...)

- Not sure I agree. The band's website repeatedly uses a small "on". I am not sure what to do when the primary source uses a capitalization that differs from the MoS. For instance, there is an article at k.d. lang because that's how she capitalizes it. This is not quite the same situation, but I'm hesitant to move it without more consensus. -Big Smooth 17:49, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
- Dang, so what is it now? I'd really like to know. Nobody out there qualified to answer such matters? (Also, why isn't there a comma used?) – ὁ οἶστρος (talk) 23:24, 4 May 2012 (UTC)
- Not considering the “primary sources” and solely basing on my own understanding of the song itself, I agree with 62.147.36.105 that “hang on” is a phrasal verb and that “on” should be capitalized. -Colathewikian (talk) 15:11, 6 December 2020 (UTC)

Hang on Little Tomato → Hang On Little Tomato – Wikipedia MoS. In this case, "on" is part of a verb and not a preposition. See above section on article's talk page for additional discussion. --Another Believer (Talk) 22:47, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
- Support. Uppercase is clearly called for by MOS:CT (first subpoint of last main bulleted point). It would have been nice if the group had taken the trouble to set off the vocative expression with a comma, though. Deor (talk) 16:23, 25 July 2012 (UTC)
- Support - Follows the logic of Phrasal verb, "Hang On" aka wait, not "Hang on" aka affix. --Education does not equal common sense. 我不在乎 18:55, 29 July 2012 (UTC)
