Sexual Harassment
editIf deadspin is good enough to be indexed in google news, is it not good enough for wikipedia? Google News Corpx 20:29, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
I agree it should go to wikinews. Sexual harrasment is big. And I myself liked Reynolds at ESPN. Soxrock 20:37, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
- Allegations of sexual harrasment are big. Deadspin sounds like a blog, and the speculation is based on emails - not usually a reliable source for WP. I put a current event tag and another ref in from ESPN. Gimmetrow 20:52, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
- Ok, I like that. I've never heard of deadspin and ESPN has no comment, they're clammed up on this. I'm not gonna trust deadspin. On the ESPN boards I'm still not sold. Soxrock 20:56, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
- And Google News has very lax standards, Google is not in the business of content filtering so understandably they would allow Dead spin into their databases. However, WP has much higher standards, per WP:RS. hateless 20:57, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
- Deadspin is indeed a blog, though being part of the Gawker Media network and the Yahoo tie-in gives it high traffic and notoriety. It takes the "take everything we write with a grain of salt" approach, and much of the content comes from reader tips with varying degrees of anonymity. So yeah, not at all wiki-worthy. Ytny 21:03, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
- Deadspin was updated saying that another possibility was arugements with the Baseball tonight team. --71.137.83.78 23:38, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
- Intruging, but isn't that the point. If there's something you disagree with you get into an "argument" about it? I watch Baseball Tonight every time I can. He's always a nice guy anyway. Soxrock 23:50, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
- i just added the part about sexual harassment. it has been confirmed by AP wire reports. Evansville Courier & Express. if this isnt a credible source, not sure what is.

Firing
editOK, an anon removed the reference even that his employment was terminated. (sprotection isn't working?) Given refs to ESPN and NYPost, that seems verifiable and reasonably noteworthy; someone else can put it in. Gimmetrow 21:09, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
- Ok, I'm now totally not gonna belive that Reynolds has been fired until ESPN announces it. Deadspin may be making this up to get a rise. So I no longer trust Deadspin. Soxrock 21:13, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
- One of the refs was from ESPN.go.com with an AP byline.[1] Together with NYPost it seem verifiable to me, but if nobody else agrees that's fine. Gimmetrow 21:17, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
- It's from the Associated Press, not ESPN. But even so, I'm NOT sold. I'm watching SportsCenter tonight Soxrock 21:22, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
- If ESPN.com runs an AP story that has a quote from ESPN management, that is confirmation. The story explicitly quoted an ESPN VP who did confirm Reynolds does not work at ESPN any longer, whether its a firing or a resignation is not confirmed. I don't think this matter is up for debate and it certainly meets WP:RS. hateless 21:28, 25 July 2006 (UTC)

Vandalism
editThis page is having edits every minute. Can the blatant vandalism be blocked? Soxrock 20:44, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
Ok, thanks. Soxrock 20:50, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
- mmm i added that sprotect thing, but its not working....any ideas why? Corpx 21:50, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
Are there any 62.44.564.358 types of addresses out there? And do I count for this yet, I've had this account for 5 months? Soxrock 23:01, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
- Semi-protection isn't working because you need an administrator to actually protect the page. Requests can be done at Wikipedia:Requests for page protection. I could do it myself but the vandalism seems to have stopped. Also, people, please use the warning templates; as an admin, I hate it when people complain about continual vandalism and wanted somebody blocked but haven't even bothered to put in the effort to warn the offender. I can't do an immediate block without getting other people on me for not following protocol. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 01:18, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
- Most of the edits here were not vandalism but a misunderstanding of WP:V and WP:RS. The only blatant vandalism I saw occurred 2 hrs before Soxrock's post, the IP had been warned for a different page, and had stopped editing. Gimmetrow 01:59, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
An anonymous editor just readded the Deadspin rumors again. I'm getting close to my 3RR limit so it looks like someone else will need to keep an eye on the page and revert when necessary. thans... hateless 04:25, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
- I added a comment so other users know not to put it in again. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 05:20, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
- Well, given the new link, I guess there isn't much of argument anymore. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 07:57, 26 July 2006 (UTC)
Sportscenter confirmation
editThe last SportsCenter confirmed that Reynolds isn't at the network. Meanwhile, Reynolds supposedly said that when he hugged a woman she didn't "interpret" it right. Soxrock 14:11, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

"Harold Reynolds also led the AL for most errors by a second baseman for 4 consecutive years in a row (1987-1990)."

- Not done: I saw that tweet too and was also very amused by it. And there are a lot of things this article needs - improved description of Reynolds' playing career, both positive and negative, chief among them. But no, we're not going to simply add a negative statement to this article because we are all annoyed with a dumb comment Reynolds made. Wikipedia is not Twitter. If you still want to vent about it, go to social media. Resolute 19:49, 12 October 2015 (UTC)
