Plans to Revise "Healthcare in India"

I am a student at Rice University, working on contributing to Wikipedia through a Poverty, Justice, and Human Capabilities class. While improvements have been made to this article, there are still substantial areas that require further improvement. First of all, it would be beneficial to incorporate more sources that extend beyond mere data presentation and describe some of the societal effects of health care issues in India. In addition, the introduction to the topic can be expanded to provide a more substantial framework for the following sections. Some of the data referenced is a bit outdated and would benefit from more current measures. Finally, while Healthcare in India is a broad topic and this article serves as a general overview, an idea for further increasing the depth of information in this article would be to incorporate regional differences in health issues, with distinct regional sub-sections within the various issues.

I plan to work on these areas for improvement and hope to further strengthen the information presented in the article. Specifically, I will work on the main "health care system" section, but my primary focus will be the "Rural Health" sub-section, including information about regional differences and adding more in-depth information than what is currently on the page.

This is a fantastic article! It is very well written, and very informative. One of its major strengths is the way you reorganized it, particularly the subsections of "Private healthcare" and "Public healthcare". Your lead is also very well written and concise. Your revisions draw on very recent references, which will keep readers updated on the current status of India's healthcare system. Finally, your use of multiple references present the information in the article from various viewpoints. In combination with a neutral tone, this makes your article very informative. You have very minor errors here and there; for example, one of your picture captions needs a space in between words. Additionally, you have some overstated references in your article that need to be developed more. This will more precisely represent the nature of the evidence you are drawing from. I would also suggest that you include information about India's healthcare system from previous decades, perhaps in a "History" section, that will give a more holistic development of healthcare throughout the years. The most important thing to work on would be correcting your overstated references, and just continue expanding your article for the Final Contribution. Overall, you did a great job! I really loved your article! It was so fascinating to read about healthcare in India! I especially liked the references you had to various healthcare challenges in India including malnutrition, women’s health, and pediatric health. I appreciated the comparison between southern and northern India as well since I hadn’t known much about the differences in those regions. You made everything very easy to understand too, which was wonderful!

I would recommend that you go through your article thoroughly to check for grammar mistakes. Your article is wonderful and I wouldn’t want anyone to stop reading it or question its validity just because of a few missing words or commas! I would also recommend going through your article and thinking about where you could add pictures to try and entice the reader in! You have a lot of good, thorough information in your article which is great, but without visuals makes it difficult to read all the way through. It is important that you make these changes so that readers are interested in learning about everything you have to say and are not off put by silly things that deter them from finishing your article!

Finally, for the same reasons cited above, I would try and make your lead paragraphs a little bit more concise and to the point. The facts that you cited were interesting, and all the information was relative to health in India, but it was very lengthy and because of this as an intro, it didn’t grab my attention as much as it could have. Hi User:Sravi12! Thank you for your amazing contribution. I haven't read the entire article in detail but I have one important suggestion. The lead section seems woefully small and uninformative. It's supposed to give an overview of Healthcare in India but it just gives a couple of impassive statements instead. The sections that you've written are quite thorough. May I request you to add a summary in the lead section? I think that'd be extremely useful for visitors to this page. Plans to Re-organize

I propose re-organizing this page. I want to convert the 'Rural Health' section into an Access to Healthcare section, in which I would have Rural and Urban subsections, and Rural south India and north India as sub-subsections or the Rural subsection. I could discuss access to urban health care in the urban section (the current urban section is more about urban health, less about access). I believe access is important enough to have its own unique section.

Hi all,
I added information to the new sections known as Urban Areas and General Access to Healthcare. Additionally, I created a new subsection to access known as Initiatives to discuss those initiatives that stretch across the country. I added info to a subsection known as the Twelfth Plan under Initiatives. More edits to come.

I added information to the Initiatives section under subheadings Public-Private Partnerships, National Urban Health Mission, and National Rural Health Mission. I moves some info form the rural section to the National Rural Health Mission section. Furthermore, I created a new subsection under Initiatives known as Financing Healthcare. This article should be merged with Health in India?

This article is very well written and goes into considerable detail. It's essay-like but with an objective tone to it. Notwithstanding the merits, I find this article of very low utility to general readers. Relevant information summarised in short sections is what makes a Page good Wikipage (IMO). Health in India page already has some overlap with this page. I propose we merge important details from this page onto that page and delete this page/redirect it. Please share your opinions. Health and healthcare are two different things. Merging the two is not helpful. There are parts of this article which belong in the health article. That is a quite different matter. Rathfelder (talk) 07:34, 13 October 2018 (UTC)
