Māori names

The islands have two sets of Māori names, one being those of Taranga and her sons:

Taranga: (The Hen)

Māui Mua: Motu Muka

Māui Pae: Huarewa

Māui Roto: Whatupuke

Māui Taha: Motu Wairaka and Tawatawa

Māui-Tikitiki-a-Taranga: Araara
