Separation from Municipality

edit

This article joins both the municipality with the city. Since an article of the municipality already exists, I propose to separate the information from the city and put it in its respective article, because the municipality's is anorexic with information — Preceding unsigned comment added by SteveMX (talkcontribs) 18:02, 18 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

First Inhabitants

edit

The article lists evidence of first inhabitants dating back 35,000 years. I think there is no evidence of people being on the Americas continents before 19,000 years. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.157.81.133 (talk) 15:23, 18 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Don't be lazy. Find a reputable source to that and edit the article. Wikipedia is 'do-it-yourself'. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 148.225.101.3 (talk) 16:47, 18 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Notable people

edit

Any reason why the list of notable people keeps changing? I checked back through the history a few pages and it seems legitimate items are added then removed with no explanation, which is rather questionable behavior.  Mbinebri  talk ← 22:47, 11 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Looks like most if not all of this article was copied from this website [1] Im working on a rewrite, which should be up in a day or so.Thelmadatter (talk) 02:01, 13 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

New City Collage

edit

Since the previous collage had a non-free image, the new image must contain either free works or own work. Hermosillo really needs a city collage for its article, but doing one with non-free images can cause the image to be deleted by Wikipedia. steveMX 23:02, 31 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Requested Images

edit

There's a list of requested images of Sonora, including Hermosillo here: http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anexo:Monumentos_de_Sonora#Hermosillo — Preceding unsigned comment added by SteveMX (talkcontribs) 19:45, 1 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

History and References Proposal

edit

I'd like to ask people what they think of 2 changes I want to make:

  • History: erase the template for Main article because it doesn't exist.
  • References: create 2 columns so it looks tidier.

>>>"Unnecessary" repetition

edit

"Hermosillo was ranked as one of the 5 best cities to live in in Mexico..." — The repetition of the word "in" here is necessary. Each of the two goes with a different grammatical construction. This can be reformulated either of these ways, and perhaps in others:

  • "Hermosillo was ranked as one of the 5 best cities in Mexico to live in..."
  • "Hermosillo was ranked as one of Mexico's 5 best cities to live in..."

The latter was the example that I gave in the comment to my original edit, which somebody didn't read. The original wording with one "in", however, is simply wrong. It suggests that people can "live a city", whatever the hell that's supposed to mean. Kelisi (talk) 04:07, 9 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

I'm the user who reverted it. I still think it reads awkwardly and don't feel that my revision is incorrect even though I fully see your position on it. Your wording isnt "incorrect", I just think think that my version is MORE correct in this instance. "One of the best places to live in Mexico" reads better than "One of the best places to live in in Mexico". It's not implying that people can "live a city" or that the city is alive in Mexico; rather, it's saying that the city is one of "best" to live in if in Mexico. Your other given examples solve the sane problem of repeating "in" though, which while not gramatically incorrect can (I feel) still be worded better. I guess one of those will work to make us both happy with the result - though I want to make it clear that my edit was perfectly gramatically correct and your interpretation of what makes it wrong is incorrect though I see what your reasoning was. Wildlife

edit

The mention of local deer species that reads "mule deer (locally called ‘coues’ deer)" is in error. Two species of deer are common in the state of Sonora: 1) Coues Deer which is a small-bodied sub-species of whitetail deer- Odocoileus virginianus couesi, and 2) Mule Deer - Odocoileus hemionus, which are a much larger bodied and a very different species of deer. 192.174.119.221 (talk) 11:21, 12 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
