Volume One Title

I raised this at Talk:List of Heroes episodes but it has had no response. What is the source for volume one being called Genesis? Because it was never referred to as such on-screen. U-Mos (talk) 11:13, 3 July 2010 (UTC)

Not sure if these can be considered RS, but these two interviews (here and here) have Kring calling the volume that. Ωphois 16:21, 3 July 2010 (UTC)

Heroes has been cancelled

I have noticed an editing war over whether or not to add an end date to the infobox. I think it's pretty obvious that it indeed has ended and the date of the series finale should be listed as the end date. Even if there is a mini-movie, which I highly doubt, the main series has still ended. The mini series is irrelevant since it's not part of the TV Series, which, if you haven't noticed, is in the article's title. Corn.u.co.piaDisc.us.sion 09:08, 16 August 2010 (UTC)

Agreed. I would restore a previous version with the end date, but Ophois would probably just revert it within hours because he thinks he can make or break consensus all by himself. --Dekker451 (talk) 13:01, 16 August 2010 (UTC)
And Dekker continues to make wild claims without even bothering to check the edit history, lol. Ωphois 14:58, 16 August 2010 (UTC)
First, I didn't make any claims. I stated my opinion. Secondly, the edit history has nothing to do with it because I didn't say anything about what has happened. I said what I thought would probably happen and the only reason it didn't happen is because I said it probably would so you pulled a 180 just to prove me wrong. So I obviously struck a nerve. --Dekker451 (talk) 10:21, 17 August 2010 (UTC)

Despite the personal attack, I agree Cornucopia that the final episode should be included as the end date. Ωphois 15:22, 16 August 2010 (UTC)

Great, glad we all agree. Corn.u.co.piaDisc.us.sion 08:59, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
Show me one place where I've personally attacked you. --Dekker451 (talk) 10:21, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
This is ridiculous. How in any sense would a mini-series, something that is sourced as being in discussion, not be a part of the TV series? How is there any justification to adding an end date when sources confirm further episodes are being discussed, however "obvious" it might seem to you that it's not going to happen? U-Mos (talk) 10:21, 18 August 2010 (UTC)
Because by definition a mini-series based on a series is not part of the original series. It's already too late for the series to be renewed so even if there more episodes produced and aired it would technically be a separate series. --Dekker451 (talk) 13:39, 18 August 2010 (UTC)
No, the definition of a mini series is a shorter series. In no way would it be a separate series. U-Mos (talk) 14:25, 18 August 2010 (UTC)
In order to be a shorter series, it would have to be a separate series. Otherwise it would a 4+ season series. - Josh (talk | contribs) 17:58, 18 August 2010 (UTC)
Why? Season 2 was under half the size of season 1, no one's calling that a separate series. U-Mos (talk) 20:03, 18 August 2010 (UTC)
That's because it was between season 1 and season 3, both chronologically and plotwise.--Dekker451 (talk) 10:28, 20 August 2010 (UTC)
Having less episodes than normal does not make it a mini-series. Ωphois 20:16, 18 August 2010 (UTC)
What does then? This really makes no sense at all. U-Mos (talk) 20:30, 18 August 2010 (UTC)
It is a mini-series if NBC bills it as such. Ωphois 20:32, 18 August 2010 (UTC)
They're not calling either season 1 or season 2 a "series" at all (except by the British definition of "series", which obviously throws out your "In no way would it be a separate series.") - Josh (talk | contribs) 20:48, 18 August 2010 (UTC)
...why is this even being discussed? The show's been cancelled; use the finale's date for the end of the show. If a mini-series gets developed after the cancellation, we can revisit the date then. There's no reason to debate it now when it's all speculation. EVula // talk // // 20:35, 18 August 2010 (UTC)
Indeed. - Josh (talk | contribs) 20:48, 18 August 2010 (UTC)
What's speculation is to claim the show has ended for good when sources directly contradict that. U-Mos (talk) 10:38, 19 August 2010 (UTC)
The show ended and there are talks of starting it back up. - Josh (talk | contribs) 15:58, 19 August 2010 (UTC)
Not at all. Doctor Who, for example, ended in 1989 and in 2003 there were talks to bring it back. NBC are not picking up a full season of Heroes, but they have to date never been in the position of having no plans to make any more episodes. To have its status as cancelled in the infobox is not an untruth, as in the long-term it has been, but to add a date for when the series ended is deliberate misinformation. U-Mos (talk) 17:38, 19 August 2010 (UTC)
Are you saying we couldn't call Heroes ended yet even we hadn't heard of a mini-series? - Josh (talk | contribs) 18:16, 19 August 2010 (UTC)
Doctor Who was been on and off the air for over forty years, and with several different casts. If anything qualifies for being considered multiple series it's Doctor Who, regardless of the lack of a name change. The only example that would've been worse for illustrating your point than Doctor Who is Star Trek and its spin-offs. --Dekker451 (talk) 10:28, 20 August 2010 (UTC)
Of course not. I'm saying that Heroes was cancelled with the possibility of wrapping up the story in a mini-series or TV movie. Heroes has NEVER been cancelled with no discussion concerning future episodes. U-Mos (talk) 19:03, 19 August 2010 (UTC)
A mini-series or TV movie are not the same as "future episodes". Stargate SG-1 ended, but continued as separate movies. Ωphois 19:05, 19 August 2010 (UTC)
TV movie, perhaps. But a mini-series would 100% be a part of Heroes' run. And the sources say that that's in discussion. We can't ignore that. U-Mos (talk) 19:09, 19 August 2010 (UTC)
Checking the source, I noticed it talks about "a way to wrap up the show" or a "2-hour or 4-hour special event" not a "mini-series". - Josh (talk | contribs) 19:39, 19 August 2010 (UTC)
You are correct; I have removed the term "mini-series" from the article. However, I stand by my comments that while sources say that ways of concluding the show are being discussed we cannot claim it has ended for good. U-Mos (talk) 20:11, 19 August 2010 (UTC)
Actually, this article from a couple weeks ago lists a mini-series as a possibility. Ωphois 20:14, 19 August 2010 (UTC)
I don't think Digital Spy is all that trustworthy. Plus, Kring didn't even mention the term "mini-series", the editors of that article put it in. I think that, for now, we can claim that it has ended for good. A continuation has not been confirmed, and right now it's all speculation. I don't think that a TV movie, which is probably most likely, should be included as part of the original run. A mini-series, however, I'm not sure what the consensus on that is. Corn.u.co.piaDisc.us.sion 04:56, 20 August 2010 (UTC)
Regardless, it has been stated that there may be a two- or four-hour event, which may still be a mini-series if split over more than one night. See the 4-hour Battlestar Galactica (TV miniseries) or the 2-hour Legend of Earthsea. Ωphois 12:13, 20 August 2010 (UTC)
Precisely. Which is why I say remove the end date. U-Mos (talk) 12:56, 21 August 2010 (UTC)
But right now, it's all speculation and possibility. Until there is confirmation that there will be a continuation, we can safely say that it has ended. Corn.u.co.piaDisc.us.sion 12:58, 21 August 2010 (UTC)
No we can't, because it has not been cancelled outright as they are discussing further episodes. U-Mos (talk) 13:13, 21 August 2010 (UTC)
It has been cancelled outright. Kring is causing a fuss and spreading rumours in the hope that he can make some more money. Until the studio says that they are officially financing a continuation it's all speculation. Plus, there will never be any more episodes. A TV-movie or mini-series is possible, but I don't think you can include it as the series' original run. If something does come about, I think we'll need to discuss if the continuation is part of the original series or a spin-off. Corn.u.co.piaDisc.us.sion 13:17, 21 August 2010 (UTC)
We can't possibly assert that this is Kring "causing a fuss" when it is properly sourced that such talks are happening, and one such source is completely independent of him. As cited, NBC is looking at ending the series with additional episodes. So to call February 8 the end date of Heroes is totally untrue. To say something that is sourced as in discussion is being talked about is not speculation, it's fact. To say something that is sourced as in discussion is not going to happen, which is what including an end date is effectively saying, is very much speculation. U-Mos (talk) 13:39, 21 August 2010 (UTC)

I understand what you are saying, but as of now, the series has ended. Talks of a continuation occur for almost all television series, and most never happen. I think it's just best to wait and see what happens. The continuation could occur in five years time; does that mean we have to leave the end date blank for five years? Corn.u.co.piaDisc.us.sion 14:04, 21 August 2010 (UTC)

It doesn't matter whether the discussion to which you refer is properly sourced or not. It's irrelevant to the fact that the series has ended. --Dekker451 (talk) 01:38, 22 August 2010 (UTC)

Heroes movie/additional episode cancellation should not be added to the wiki until it is OFFICIAL!

NBC still has not commented on whether or not there will be a movie, for all we know entertainment weekly has a dodgy source. It's not like it hasn't happened before. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.151.209.86 (talk) 05:30, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

Need help: Moira Kelly

Hi. I am an editor on the Moira Kelly page. Her filmography on imdb only includes one episode. I assume she was a guest star for the episode, "Chapter Three 'Building 26'?" Someone added the phrase, "In 2009, she joined the cast of Heroes V4 Fugitives" to her page. I can't find anything on Heroes V4 Fugitives? Imdb also only has "Heroes" on her page, not "Heroes V4 Fugitives." I went ahead and changed it, though. Any ideas? CreativeSoul7981 (talk) 03:06, 24 December 2010 (UTC)

Maybe I missed something, but...

"...Elle Bishop, a sadistic sociopath with the ability to generate electricity portrayed by Kristen Bell." I don't remember her being sadistic OR sociopathic...what's that about? The Practical Philosopher (talk) 18:15, 16 January 2011 (UTC)

She sparked people for the fun of it through seasons 1 & 2, at least. Not sure about the sociopath part, but she has anti-social issues. -fnlayson (talk) 22:05, 16 January 2011 (UTC)
I believe both are established in "Four Months Ago". Ωphois 22:58, 16 January 2011 (UTC)

Lack of cohesion in the storyline

The further the series went the more incohesion I found in the storyline. Let me just give one outrageous example, because I do not wish to go throught it again to pinpoint them all.

Last episode of season 4: Sylar kills Nathan. Angela Pettreli and Noah Bennet ask Matt Parkman to brainwash Sylar into thinking he IS Nathan. Assuming his body with shapeshifting and having his memories with another ability.

...

Didnt Noah die by a bullet throught the eye? Did he not come back to life with a transfusion of Claire's blood?

Yes.

So I say, having Sylar replace Nathan would not of been the logical choice of Angela or Noah. The first having lost her real son, she would of done anything to get him back and the second deeply hating Sylar for what he has done to his daughter and family.

Therefore I say there are incohesions in the story line. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 132.208.12.66 (talk) 15:36, 12 October 2010 (UTC)

The idea of common people that suddenly got supernatural powers, is taken from the 2003 Swedish De drabbade, in English "The Affected". I'm not saying the entire plot is taken from De drabbade , but the inspiration indeed is obvious. On the other hand "De drabbade" was inspired by the 2001 Danish "De udvalgte" In English "The Chosen Ones" (but that's a story of people that can buy 100 years of extra life by killing others - the chosen ones). This may call for some examples of the super natural powers that affects people in "De drabbade" -

  • A man that all people tells the truth to - how orchid the question ever may be
  • A man that can read the thoughts of others
  • A woman that can bring dead back to life
  • A man that can tell the precise location of anyone, he just needs a photo (if it's someone he hasn't met)
  • A woman that can order people to do things against their own will, like a police shooting his collegues (she can't change what people want to do, but they still follow her orders)
  • A man that can scare the shit out of anybody
  • A man that can become invisible
  • A youngster that can change his appearance, and look like anyone else he has seen
  • A woman that can open a door , and all who follows her through that door , comes out of any other door on planet Earth
  • A baby , with unknown strength. Until the 12th and last episode. The Baby can reverse time.

and others. This was aired in 2003. And American TV-producers are watching most European TV-series, in their hunt for inspiration. 83.249.169.163 (talk) 23:41, 23 May 2014 (UTC) Here is a link to the 7th episode http://www.oppetarkiv.se/video/1580116/de-drabbade-avsnitt-7-av-12

The Dark Lady send four of hers to a mission (in order for the affected to amplify their skills, they must practice. The fat girl opens a door and the "mindreader", the "appearance shifter" and the sexy girl that gives orders follows with her. They comes straight in to a police trap. The "doorkeeper" escapes through a door, but the other three are believed to have killed several police officers. How shall they solve this situation ? (Thats the main story of this episode, sound is in Swedish without any underlining) 83.249.169.163 (talk) 23:55, 23 May 2014 (UTC)
Do you have reliable third party sources in which the writers for Heroes state that they were inspired by that series? Ωphois 01:36, 24 May 2014 (UTC)

Touch

Should Tim Kring's Touch be added as a related show? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cgforbes (talkcontribs) 22:36, 12 June 2011 (UTC)

Apologies, not sure why the edit summary didn't appear. As it should have said, the "Related" section is for shows that are "Related TV shows, i.e. remakes, spin-offs, adaptations for different audiences, etc." (per the documentation for the template). Unless there is something to indicate that '"Touch is set in the same universe or involves the same characters, the two are not related. (Having the same actors, producers etc. doesn't matter, otherwise we'd have hundreds upon hundreds of "related" series.) --Ckatzchatspy 01:06, 18 June 2011 (UTC)
Okay, that makes sense, thanks!--Cgforbes (talkcontribs) —Preceding undated comment added 22:52, 18 June 2011 (UTC).

What about Heroes Dark Matters? there is no reference to that in this article and it is the prequel to Heroes reborn? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 210.48.17.17 (talk) 00:30, 12 September 2015 (UTC)

Other languages

WOuld it be an idea to mention somewhere on the article (perhaps even on the infobox) that there is often dialogue in languages other than English? These languages include Japanese and Spanish among other languages. It's not just native speakers that speak these languages either. Heroes wiki has a list: http://heroeswiki.com/List_of_multilingual_characters. Munci (talk) 15:19, 16 January 2016 (UTC)

Shouldn't this page link to the officially endorsed and supported Heroes Wiki at http://heroeswiki.com/? Noticed there is no link and I want to add one but ofc, it will be removed for vandalism because there's a status quo amongst a lot of article editors that they override the exception in WP:ELNO #12 "large number of editors and significant history of stability".

From what I've seen on the talk pages, Heroes Wiki is NOT considered "officially endorsed and supported." Can you reference anything that states that it is? —2macia22 (talk) 13:25, 29 November 2015 (UTC)

"Psychological Thriller"

I removed the 'psychological thriller' theme descriptor from the lede because I couldn't find any rs describing it as that. It was reverted by an IP, so I'm bringing here to see what other's think. Pinging the IP 180.252.243.171 to see why they think this should be used. Valeince (talk) 18:51, 16 March 2017 (UTC)

Why psychological thriller fits this series:

  1. Many has described it is psychological thriller
  2. Psychological thriller is a subgenre of thriller whom emphasises with the unstable psychological states of its characters (Matt Parkman's dyslexia, Niki Sanders' dissoaciative identity disorder, Elle Bishop's antisocial personality disorder)
  3. Psychological thrillers uses cliffhangers (which Heroes frequently use), plot twists and unreliable narrators (which Heroes also use)
  4. In psychological thriller, characters battle their own minds, attempting to find out what is real, and what the purpose of life is (which many Heroes characters did)
  5. Amnesia is a common plot device (which Peter Petrelli has in season two)
  6. Psychological thriller deals with tortured relationships (Sylar and his adoptive parents, Peter and his brother, Mohinder Suresh and his father, etc)
  7. In psychological thrillers, characters may be threatened with death, be forced to deal with the deaths of others, or fake their own deaths (examples: Niki Sanders and Micah Sanders deals with D.L. Hawkins' death, Peter, Claire and Angela Petrelli deal with Nathan Petrelli's death, Matt Parkman deal with Daphne Millbrook's death) and many Heroes characters are threatened with death, and Noah Bennet has faked his death in season 2.
  8. Psychological thrillers can be complex, and reviewers may recommend a second or third viewing to "decipher its secrets.", in which Heroes uses third person perspective
  9. Common elements may include stock characters, such as a hardboiled detective/police cop and serial killer, involved in a cat and mouse game (Matt Parkman and Sylar)
  10. Psychological thrillers focus on story, character development, choice, and moral conflict; fear and anxiety drive the psychological tension in unpredictable ways (in which Heroes focuses on character development, story and strong moral choices)
  11. Psychological thrillers are suspenseful by exploiting uncertainty over characters' motives, honesty, and how they see the world, very similar to Heroes

If you want to know more why do Heroes fit psychological thriller, see the themes of Heroes here: [1] and [2] Ethan Sylar (talk) 10:42, 17 March 2017
