The result of the move request was: not moved. The current title is the WP:COMMONNAME. BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 01:15, 15 February 2014 (UTC)
Hindmarsh Stadium → Coopers Stadium – Venue has naming right sponsorship, no longer called Hindmarsh Stadium David.goodchild (talk) 05:56, 7 February 2014 (UTC)
- Oppose Hi David, the usual convention is to name the article for the original/non-commercial/non-sponsored name. This is because sponsored name can change frequently (eg. Docklands Stadium had three different names in it's first decade of operation) and even refer to different stadiums at different points in time (e.g. ANZ Stadium has referred to both the Queensland Sport and Athletics Centre and Stadium Australia). Of course re-directs are created for the alternate names, and the current sponsored name is referred in the intro paragraph. Let me know if you have any questions. -- Chuq (talk) 06:30, 7 February 2014 (UTC)
- Oppose Unless the sponsor's name sticks around for long enough to become a clear WP:COMMONNAME, such as Emirates Stadium, we prefer the original names for stadia, as Chuq explains. The major exception seems to be American stadia, which are rarely called by non-sponsor names at any point. --BDD (talk) 22:33, 7 February 2014 (UTC)

- Oppose - we very rarely use sponsored names. GiantSnowman 17:25, 9 February 2014 (UTC)
- Oppose Transient sponsored names are avoided unless they are the name from day 1. Number 57 18:16, 11 February 2014 (UTC)
- Oppose as per above editors. Macktheknifeau (talk) 10:50, 13 February 2014 (UTC)

The Wiki golf ball icon for Hindmarsh Stadium appears to be approx. 100 kilometres North of it's true location. Hindmarsh is a suburb slightly west of North Adelaide (No where near Hamley Bridge or Stockport). I believe it should be within 2 kilometres west of the Adelaide Entertainment Centre, clearly visible as a green rectangle to the left of a white rectangle(Adelaide Entertainment Centre). Co-ordinates are approx. (34.54'24.86"S 138.34'07.34"E elev 24m). I am a South Australian glad to help put our landmarks back where they belong. 58.169.209.124 06:06, 24 December 2006 (UTC) |
