• "Shams al-Din Juvayni—who was the minister of Ilkhanate": what does "the minister of Ilkhanate" mean? Does it just mean he was an official in the Ilkhanate government, in which case I'd make it something like "who was a minister of the Ilkhanate government"? Or does it mean more than that?

Hmm.. I'm not sure what to say. Sources also sometimes use the title of grand vizier instead, so it would be the equivalent of that. --HistoryofIran (talk) 00:23, 16 August 2022 (UTC)

• You have a mixture of spellings; "honor" is AmEng; "favour" is BrEng. Which is it meant to be?

Spotchecks

HistoryofIran, I realized after I promoted this to GA that I should have been doing spotchecks during the review. I've now done some; everything I checked was basically OK, but there's one sentence that I think needs attention.

• "Humam's poetry was influenced by poets such as Sanai (died c. 1130), Anvari (died 1189), and Saadi Shirazi (died 1291/92)." The names are supported by the source, but the dates are not -- can we either remove the dates or add sources for them?

Hello. I just used the dates listed in their respective Wiki articles, as I thought that shouldn't be controversial. Tbh I always do that, I think it gives a good insight on when these figures were actually active, and adding citations would just unnecessarily clutter the sentence imho. --HistoryofIran (talk) 13:43, 7 October 2022 (UTC)

I don't think that's enough. Aside from the fact that we can't use the Wikipedia articles as sources, there's no way for a reader to verify the information. If you're getting the dates from Wikipedia articles with reliable sources for those dates, I think those sources need to be added. I've removed all the parenthetical birth death dates, since as you say they are not sourced. To be honest I don't think it's always a good idea to include them; that's what links are for. In some cases I can see that the reader needs to know the dates of someone mentioned, but that's not true in every case. Please source anything you re-add.
