editthe list of legal reasons for abortion is only partially correct and badly needs updating Sarah the poet (talk) 20:28, 18 October 2009 (UTC)
I plan on updating this article, adding new information, removing incorrect material, adding references, and organization to this article.

My plan for this article is to add much more information, find images, and add citations to the existing material. Natalietadpole (talk) 20:13, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
I added the HFEA & Stem Cell Policy section, referencing hfea.gov. Natalietadpole (talk) 04:00, 10 March 2012 (UTC)
Introduction Section
editI reviewed this page and noticed some things that can be corrected or added to make this page even better. I realize that there is not much information added so maybe you guys already have sections written out but not posted on wiki but here is what I noticed. The introduction section could contain more introductory information. Define egg, embryo, and sperm as it relates to this act. HFEA Coverage section: this section has everything that could be talked about in the introduction. So maybe you guys can merge these sections or make it a subsection? In 1990 women were able to have an abortion at 28 weeks — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.31.144.195 (talk) 15:36, 7 September 2013 (UTC)
Storage of Human Eggs, Sperm, and Embryos
editStorage of Human Eggs, Sperm, and Embryos – you talked about storing specimens “in very specific conditions.” What are these conditions? The time is stated but are there specific temperatures that are required to maintain that are stated by the Act? Veerani91 (talk) 19:52, 20 April 2012 (UTC)
Edit
editThe Research on Early Human Embryos – the second sentence should read “… 14 days or until…” Veerani91 (talk) 19:52, 20 April 2012 (UTC)
Revisions
editThis wiki page includes no introduction, making the page unappealing to users. The lack of an introduction is just the name of the act. In the introduction, there should be an overview of what the act includes along with other background information included in the act. A descriptive detail of the act along with details on terminology of the parts of the act should also be included to make it easier for readers to understand. Under the policy under review and the past policy reviews sections, there needs to be descriptive details for each bullet to ensure the reader understands what each means. If there is already a Wikipedia page for these, there should be a link added to the words so that the reader has references to the definition if needed. Is the “early litigation” section supposed to be the “history” of this act? If not, there should be a history of the act including how and when it was created, who signed the act, and how it “took off.” There also should be more up to date information on the topic. The most resent information was from 2009, this is three years old when I am sure there has been more movement with this act within the past three years. Amendments Section
editUnder the Amendments section you can talk about the new amendments proposed in 2000 “to allow sperm to be taken form a dead man to fertilise an egg, if an man and woman concerned were married, living together as man and wife, or had been receiving treatment together at a licensed clinic.” These provisions also allow research on therapeutic cloning, which can help grow body tissues that could be used to treat disease. You talked about the Human Reproductive Cloning Act which is was led due to the therapeutic cloning. Veerani91 (talk) 19:52, 20 April 2012 (UTC)
Potential Sections and Suggestions
editYou can add another section that talks about what the rights of each individual as a donor, a donor-conceived, and as a patient. Another section can talk about what permitted eggs, sperm, and embryos are in terms of this act (under section 3ZA). For example, a permitted egg is one that is not produced by or extracted from a woman’s ovaries AND whose mitochondrial DNA has not been altered. Over all, the page looks good, and I’m sure you guys have thought about most of the things I mentioned. The only thing that needs to be fixed is the link to some of the wiki pages that are in red. I saw that under the Early Litigation section, the reason why Human fertilisation and Embryology Authority is in red is because fertilisation is not capitalized so Fertilisation will correct that error. Good luck! Hope you guys get the stub article label off your page. We were able to successfully take it off once our article contained enough information. Veerani91 (talk) 19:33, 20 April 2012 (UTC)
