Hyderabad to redirect to Hyderabad, India?

Cleared 100+ entries on Hyderabad yesterday & today (too slow for 24 hours? ;)). 85% of them link to Hyderabad, India, 10% to Hyderabad, Pakistan and 5% to Hyderabad State. (almost disambiguated all Hyderabad, India entries. Of the unfinished job left, majority would be of Hyderabad, Pakistan with some to Hyderabad State). So, I was wondering if Hyderabad should lead directly to Hyderabad, India with 2 disambiguation links on that page. Any views? ---Gurubrahma 07:44, 8 September 2005 (UTC)

• My view is to follow your idea. However, whenever a proposal like this is made, there is usually objection. Examples: American, perhaps a better percentage lead to United States than 85%, but a redirect was strongly objected (discussion here); Turk, same thing (discussion here). There was no need to redirect the article Hyderabad to Hyderabad, India
The evidence provided here is devised as only Hyderbad, Pakistan was taken into account and the actual article was moved from there to Hyderabad, Sindh prior this discussion. Taken in consideration that Hyderabad, Sindh averages about 10 edits a day over the past few weeks (and I do not include bogus ones) rather Hyderabad, Pakistan which actually is a redirection page to the same, I would say that Hyderabad be redirected to Hyderabad (disambiguation). - Arun Reginald (talk) 13:40, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

Oh no, not again!!

It is not even 3 months and already more than 100 pages need to be disambiguated - most of them relating to Hyderabad, India. I'll wait for 15 days for additional comments on the discussion above. I do hope that the consensus would be towards making this link directy to Hyderabad, India. If no comments are forthcoming by the end of 15 days, I'll be bold and make the necessary changes. You could use WP:RM. It gives 5 days for discussion, and more people will see the move mentioned - so it's more likely to attract comment.--Commander Keane 10:07, 29 November 2005 (UTC)

Shouldn't we move this DAB back to Hyderabad?, I think it's best that Hyderabad unqualified be the DAB page. Hyderabad, India isn't the Hyderabad.

Why has Hyderabad been redirected to Hyderabad, India without proper discussion (barring the above from a few years ago)? Doing a search for Hyderabad India yields 670,000 679,000 results Whilst Hyderabad Pakistan has 349,000 325,000 results

So Hyderabad, India has almost twice as many results, however 449,000 of these are from Indian websites

However if we take the America page as a comparison, a far higher proportion of people use the word America to refer to the United States then people who use Hyderabad for Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh

I agree! The page should be moved
I think that you are absolutely right. I remember, this used to be the case with this DAB earlier on and I had to move it to Hyderabad so that it redirects under the rules presented in Wikipedia talks about city names. It is utterly against the rules and general best practices to redirect an ambiguous city name to a specific city. If such names do exist they need to first land on the disambiguation page first. - Arun Reginald (talk) 13:22, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

Statistics updated
I just realized while updating the statistics that Hyderabad Sindh is gaining popularity by tens of thousands while Hyderabad India only increased a mere fraction of that amount.
