Fair use rationale for Image:I've Heard the Mermaids Singing poster.jpg

edit

Image:I've Heard the Mermaids Singing poster.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

  • ... that I've Heard the Mermaids Singing was the second movie screened at 1987 film festivals to have its title taken from T. S. Eliot's poem "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock"? Source: "I've Heard the Mermaids Singing is the second film this season - after Eat the Peach a few weeks ago - to take its name from "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock," one of Eliot's most widely read poems." ([1])
    • ALT1:... that I've Heard the Mermaids Singing (1987) was the first English-language Canadian feature film to win an award at the Cannes Film Festival? Source: "Because of Mermaids' profitability and status as the first English-Canadian feature film to win an award at Cannes...." ([2])
  • Reviewed: my second DYK nomination, so no QPQ required

5x expanded by NOLA1982 (talk). Self-nominated at 14:39, 18 May 2020 (UTC).Reply

  •   5x expansion is new enough. Long enough (5x expanded). The interesting ALT0 hook is preferred, as "first" type hooks (eg ALT1) can be rather dull. Hook, and all paras, bar the "Plot" section (cites not needed) are well-cited. Earwig's Copyvio Detector found no close paraphrasing issues, copyright violations or plagiarism. NPOV. No QPQ required. Good to go. Edwardx (talk) 13:37, 21 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
