Disco
editThis song is a hard rock song with a disco beat not dsco —Preceding unsigned comment added by Zakkman (talk • contribs) 18:01, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
- According to this review at All Music Guide it's a disco song. Wikipedia is source based, so I'm going to put it back. -GTBacchus(talk) 22:34, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
Ok, so User:Zakkman and I have edited back and forth a few times over this edit. I think that it's accurate to call the song "disco", and I think that the sources support that. Zakkman's argument above is that the song is "hard rock with a disco beat, not disco". I don't think it's a big deal, but I think we should follow the source on this point. What do others think? -GTBacchus(talk) 02:33, 2 February 2008 (UTC) you know what fuck you your a pussy who aobviously hates kiss and im changing it back and thats final KISS is my favpourite band and you dont fuck with them
yes i agree the sources do support the fact that it is a disco song the facts are right in the article its self , Zakkman please refrain from your own pov getin in the way even ace frehley called it a disco song in an interview it is a disco song the band its self is hard rock so i though it was fair to leave the hard rock tag along with the disco tag but some are still cant get over it,zakkman if you remove the relevent tag of disco again you are just going to get blocked from editing from an administrator you have no arguement--Wikiscribe (talk) 19:38, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
- I asked him on his talk page, and his only reply as to why a hard rock band couldn't make a disco song is that it "would be gay". I don't think that's a very compelling reason. I know someone who knew their original drummer, who left the band when they wanted to start wearing makeup, because that would be gay. -GTBacchus(talk) 23:52, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
As a disco expert, I have to agree this is not a disco song, but a hard rock song with a disco beat, but I am ok with calling it a disco song, as I like disco a lot. I feel the user has a valid point, but does not express himself clearly. However, if the song writer as in the article stated he wanted to write a disco song and they writer thinks of it was a disco song, then that is the final word. Disco is not just any song with a disco beat. A song with a beat could fall under other categories. Disco songs are complex and contain multiple tracks, often have a horn section, and the vocal should sound disco. Many disco songs start with one track a beat, then slowly add more tracks until the vocal begins. Next the verses and the chorus and the fade out. This song like a rock song starts out and builds to a crescendo, then the fade out. The guitar tracks are normally not found in a disco song which uses only electronic music, but sometimes horns. Consider Super Freak by Rick James or any number of famous Disco Songs by the Bee Gees, Funkytown, or Donna Summer, not one of them has the guitar tracks. But it is also listed as hard rock on the sidebar. The song is more correctly a cross between disco and hard rock. Apriv40dj (talk) 23:37, 25 March 2014 (UTC)
The allmusic source does not support disco as a genre for this song. What it actually says is that writers were using the rise of the disco as a reason to write danceable songs, and that it merged disco themes with hard rock. Realistically it is a poprock classic, though I don't have a good source for that. Flat Out let's discuss it 00:23, 26 March 2014 (UTC)
Possible recent vandalism
editA party has stated that he does not think describing Kiss as disco is sufficient reason to remove sourced content from an article. It is not. The song, not the band, is being described, and, as is stated in the drafts of the article, the song was clearly even thought of by its writer as being effectively a disco song. Unless that party can produce sourced, verifiable information which clearly states that the sourced content is wrong or indicates that the inclusion violates other extant policies, there is, so far as I can see, no justifiable reason for the removal of the content. Please abide by existing wikipedia policy and achieve consensus before reverting again. Thank you. John Carter (talk) 18:33, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

Chart performance by country - error
editThe year in the table is wrong, the song was on the Norwegian chart for one week (week 25) in 1980, not 1979. [1] [2]. Probably the same for several of the other countries as well. --KEN (talk) 08:00, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
Please add who sang the vocals on I was made for lovin you
editI think it was sung by Paul Stanley from a music video I saw on you tube. This should be added under the section about statistic on the side. I would add it, but I am not a Kiss expert. Apriv40dj (talk) 23:24, 25 March 2014 (UTC)
