Seethalai Sathanar

edit

Although Seethalai Sathanar's reference here is not much of a relevance, as far as I am aware he talks about Buddhism and not Jainism. In Manimegalai, Seethalai sathanar talks a lot about Jainism and its greatness The above sentence may not be accurate. Thanks. Wiki San Roze talk 15:11, 10 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Adikal does not imply Jain.

edit

Adikal does not imply that he was a Jain, Adikal here is a contraction of "Perumal Adikal" meaning that he was a member of the Royal Family. Also please note the names of Siva saints like Appar Adikal & Naminanthi Adikal who were not Jains. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 112.134.125.55 (talk) 16:48, 10 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Plus even within Silappathikaram, Kannaki refers to Kovalan as Adikal, and we know withot any doubt that Kovalan was not a jain or monk! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 112.134.117.192 (talk) 11:14, 13 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Na. Mu, venkatasami Nattar in his compilation of commentary for silappadhikaram has comprehensively argued in the preface that Ilangaadikal was a saivite monk with enough quotes. His work was published in 1942. Please ref [1]. It is stated here with certainty that he is a Jain Monk without any reference. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.173.228.151 (talk) 09:46, 8 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Ilango Adigal is a Chera author. This especially implies that both successor languages need to be shown.

Modern Tamil ≠ Old Tamil and that shouldn't be cited as the reason for only using modern Tamil script. Arjunullas (talk) 09:00, 16 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
