Imran Khan is 50% Bengali. His maternal side is pathan but paternal family is Bengali. In a patri-linear society like in India, it's the father's side that you first get identified with.  —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.112.82.188 (talk) 00:29, 8 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Actually, he's 25% Bengali. His father is half Bengali Indian and half English.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.188.18.28 (talk) 19:12, 12 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

His father is a Bengali Hindu?

edit

I looked at both of the references cited after the "fact" in the article and NEITHER say his father is a Bengali Hindu. I remember an old version of the article that stated that his father is half Bengali (Indian) and half British. Who got rid of that? And why? Some pro-Bengali agenda? Where does this source say that Imran khan's maternal family is from "Herat, Afghanistan"?59.161.105.194 (talk) 17:22, 21 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Dude, check the end of the article, it says that AAMIR KHAN (Imran Khan´s uncle) is originally from Herat, Afghanistan. Here is it: Efforts on However, despite persistent efforts, he has still not been able to meet either of the two other reigning Khans Aamir and Shah Rukh. While Aamir's family hails from Herat, Shah Rukh Khan's paternal grandfather was from the region. "I will continue to try to meet them again," he said. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.67.79.186 (talk) 11:25, 11 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

order of content in the lead

edit

per WP:LEAD the content of the lead must show why the subject is important and per general good writing principals, paragraphs should consist of a single theme or idea. hence, this version of the lead which emphasizes what the subject is important for by placing all of the film acting together and discussing that first and grouping all of the personal family information together and grouping all of the other items Khan is known for together is far superior to this version which mixes subjects in every paragraph and places more emphasis on who his uncles are by placing that information in the initial paragraph, and demotes Kahns own acting to second tier. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 20:32, 28 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

I don't think it is such a big deal, but the newly minted FA Kareena Kapoor shows relatives in the first paragraph, and that underwent a huge amount of scrutiny, so it must be okay. BollyJeff | talk 17:48, 29 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

  • There are grammatical mistakes.

    • "I went there at the age of 11 and spent around five years there. It was a small school on a farm with no electricity. We used traditional lamps, and for water we would go to a nearby stream to bathe and wash our clothes. We planted our own vegetables to grow our food."
    • "the enterprise belongs to debutant Imran Khan who comes up with an intelligent and restrained performance."
    • "Imran is the best young actor we've seen on screen for months. He's unconventional and vulnerable and he knows how to use both to make a lasting impression."
    • "Imran Khan is effective as the intelligent abductor who's always two steps ahead of his opponent. However, the natural actor could go easy on his lip movements that appear synthetic at times."
    • "Imran Khan seems excessively out of place and clearly needs a director to push him into naturalism. Gone is the easy Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na charm, replaced by stock expressions and what seems like a case of the nerves, goading him to forsake all subtlety."
    • "Imran Khan is endearing and does well for a good part of the film. But he does need to improve in emotional scenes. [He] is is free and lovable in the light scenes."
    • "I will be eternally grateful to Karan Johar for calling me up at that time and showing that kind of faith."

    • "Imran Khan pitches in his best act till date as the journalist trapped between fleeing from death and floundering in love's dilemma."
    • "Imran Khan is superbly cast and he doesn't let down. His body language slackens in progression as the script demands and he is absolutely spot on with his comic timing."
    • "Imran Khan goes red in the face trying to muster up a Haryanvi accent and act tough. You can actually see the effort in his acting and that's why it jars all the more."
    • "I care a lot about animals. If I see an injured or sick animal I feel I can help it in some way and I do that. The fact is that there are dogs and cats and all kinds of animals roaming around the streets. People buy costly dogs and cats either as a fashion statement or just to keep them like toys. Once they get bored, they throw them out of the house. That is a very horrible thing to do."
    • "It's completely unfair to expect that one has to wait till 25 years to exercise his freedom of choice regarding one's lifestyle. Young India is not as irresponsible as the older establishment assumes it to be."
    • "I like the idea of being able to connect with people one to one, and generally having a space to talk about whatever’s going on in my head that week"
    • "Their agenda was not fighting or hatred. Their concern was to see me okay. They were incredible that way. My parents were always one unit for me. If I am not shattered about my past today, the credit goes to them."

    • "I have learned a lot about myself and become a more balanced person."
    • "he does not see any danger in tagging himself as 'unavailable'"
    • "grown and matured into an irresistible combination of goody-two-shoesness and an urbane sophistication."
    • "Imran's unassuming charm, while it works in films that also have strong women leads, fails to really create an emotional connect with audiences who go away thinking 'what a nice boy!'"
    • "Imran's image as a simple boy has charmed the audience [...] and helped him make a place in Bollywood. He has the ability to underplay characters with confidence and has proved his versatility."
    • "He is very particular that he must do the right thing. But he has always said that I have to learn by myself - make mistakes and learn from it and when you succeed yourself, it will be better."

And that's excluding all small quotes. GA huh?!?!? §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 07:35, 12 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Well Dharma, if you see the review I did mention the fact about the QUOTEFARM issue, but I did not let it hinder the GA criteria which is less, much less stringent than the FAC one I believe. What we need to achieve here is the Plagiarism issues rising out of it and GleekVampire can address them I'm sure. Let's wait for his/her input. —Indian:BIO · [ ChitChat ] 07:54, 12 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
The GA mark could have waited till the issue was fixed. We don't give any article FA/GA status expecting them to turn good in future. Keep watching... more maintenance tags are coming soon. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {T/C} 08:10, 12 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
Here's what i'm gonna do. I'll remove the extra quotes and paraphrase the rest. BTW, how many direct quotes are allowed per article?. Thank you IndianBio for everything. :) Dharmadhyaksha you can get the article reassessed if you want, and keep the condescending tone to yourself ok buddy. some of the quotes have now been removed per a request from GleekVampire to edit them out (struck from above list) with film reviews it is often necessary to use direct quotes to accurately capture the reviewers pov.-- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 21:55, 13 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
I agree with this issue, and I have requested a reassessment. 62.64.152.154 (talk) 18:52, 24 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

He is, as per multiple reliable sources. Imran is the son of Aamir Khan's cousin-sister Nuzhat Khan (source).- Managerarc talk 23:07, 25 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
If he is the son of his cousin sister then he is either the cousin nephew as stated on Aamir's page, or he is more specifically the first cousin once removed. 62.64.152.154 (talk) 21:11, 26 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
In the media, he's always referred to as his nephew. We have to go by what has been published in reliable sources. - Managerarc talk 14:04, 14 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Imran Khan (Indian actor)Imran Khan (Bollywood actor) – "Indian actor" may lead readers to misinterpret that he is an Indian citizen who acts in films regardless of their country, but he is a US citizen. "Indian film actor" may not be so helpful either, since it could also lead to misinterpretation, and he acts only in Hindi (Bollywood) films. --Kailash29792 (talk) 10:55, 9 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Ethnic Group

edit

Subject to Correction Imran Khan holds an American Passport. That makes him an 'Indian American' Bollywood Actor. That is his ethnic group. Yet, it is often mis-written that he is an 'American Actor'. Even when corrective edits are made to rectify this error, such corrective edits are re-edited.

If Indian Origin people living in America are not known as Indian Americans then kindly correct me here. Rohan A Singh (talk) 01:39, 30 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Rohan A Singh. As per MOS:ETHNICITY, we introduce the subject with his nationality which is American in this case. His Indian origin is also mention later. --Ab207 (talk) 07:45, 30 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
