Reconsider

edit

@Anupam: you have turned this page title from a redirect into an article. Such efforts are often understood as WP:POVFORKs. So you need to tread cautiously here.

The page at the moment is essentially a WP:QUOTEFARM. It is regurgitating opinions of certain individuals (mostly in India) who advocate undoing the partition. There are no scholarly opinions talking about the feasibility (or lack) of such an idea. There is no coverage of opposing points of view and, in particular, the mainstream Pakistani point of view. If this article is to survive a POVFORK charge, you would need a well-rounded coverage. Cheers, Kautilya3 (talk) 15:38, 9 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

If this page is to be viable, it needs to examine the reunification of India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh as a concept, and carefully exclude content related to territorial changes or accession between the countries. There's a real risk of turning this into a quotefarm, which would be an NPOV disaster. Vanamonde (Talk) 19:20, 9 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for your comments. As this article was just created, it can certainly be expanded to include other perspectives, such as the opinions of the Pakistani point of view. The redirect to Akhand Bharat was inappropriate as that article solely ties Indian reunification with the Hindutva movement, while this one also mentions Indian reunification under a secular government. As such, this article has a broader scope. I hope this helps. With regards, AnupamTalk 19:31, 9 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

This page speaks of “potential reunification.” There is effectively zero chance of this happening since it’s not discussed seriously on any level. Therefore, it should be termed a hypothetical/theoretical idea. There is sometimes talk of conquest, but that’s not the same thing as “reunification.”

Also this sounds like someone’s personal essay. It leaves out key facts like Allama Mashriqi eventually came to terms with Pakistan and wanted to seize Kashmir on its behalf. If you read the article, you’d have no idea of that, and would think he was a lifelong opponent of Pakista.

Finally, the page relies extremely heavily on the writings of one Nasim Yousaf who is taken to be the “Pakistani view.” It basically just restates what he said in a 2009 conference.

I’ve tried to fix these issues, and tagged the article as sounding like an essay.

Substantial Media Coverage About Indian Reunification

edit

Indian Reunification (with Pakistan and Bangladesh) is a topic that is often observed in the news. [1] [2] Being a popular topic in India and Pakistan, it is commonly discussed on other major channels, gaining more than 1,500,000 views. [3] [4] Sources in this article attest to the fact that the idea of Indian Reunification guided India’s foreign policy with Pakistan, especially early on. Can we add in a section about the substantial media coverage that this topic receives? Rustam Fan (talk) 01:27, 3 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

You have only cited Indian news, which seems to like to dwell on this topic, and a few you tubers. Pakistani media hardly ever

Pakistani and Indian POV

edit

There needs to be a section that considers the opinions of the Pakistani and Indian people. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 133.175.178.17 (talk) 14:10, 26 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Clarification of the RSS stance on reunification

edit

While it is true that the RSS has stated, even in its official manifesto, the wish to have a united "Akhand Bharat" again, it is more likely to be on the lines of their bid to dominate the South-Asian Muslim community, rather than to coexist and cooperate. They have clearly expressed, multiple times in their official writings, their notion that Indian Muslims, along with Pakistanis, should be made second-grade citizens, and if possible, should be excluded from being "Indian" altogether.

This article might benefit from a clarification of such ideas, as it currently makes it seems like they see eye to eye with the Congress and the Azad Muslim Conference. DhruvPanday (talk) 03:57, 29 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Reunify what?

edit

India was created on August 15 1947 and Pakistan on August 14 1947. What India are they "reunifying" ? This whole article just seems like an Indian nationalist essay based on their limited knowledge of history. — Preceding unsigned comment added by INGoNitE (talkcontribs) 11:07, 26 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Demography and Economy

edit

Pitush Puttar has added "Demography" and "Economy" sections to this article that has no relevance to the topic. He has been reverted two times ([5] and [6]). The citations themselves make no mention of reunification, not to mention that the English used in those additions is non-standard. I propose that this content be removed as it already seems there is a consensus against inclusion. Srijanx22 (talk) 15:43, 9 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Under the heading "Background", please replace the sentence:

Those who opposed the vivisection of the country often adhered to the doctrine of [[composite nationalism]].

with

Those who opposed it often adhered to the doctrine of [[composite nationalism]] in the [[Indian subcontinent]].

"Vivisection" is a fairly loaded, gruesome term, and seems inappropriate to use in this context. This change realigns the sentence with a similar one in the introduction to Opposition to the Partition of India.
