Capitalisation of Mayor of Manila
editHello, I thought I would provide a fuller explanation for my undo of your edit.
I refer to criteria three of the Manual of Style for capitalisation of the title: When a formal title for a specific entity (or conventional translation thereof) is addressed as a title or position in and of itself, is not plural, is not preceded by a modifier (including a definite or indefinite article), and is not a reworded description.
Theresa May became Prime Minister of the United Kingdom in 2016. Theresa May was the prime minister of the United Kingdom.
In this case, the absence of the word "the" as a modifier, indicates the title instead of the office. It means that both of these two sentences are correct.
He served as Prime Minister of Singapore. He served as the prime minister of Singapore.
As the original sentence did not contain the article "the", the phrase Prime Minister is accordingly capitalised.
I hope that clears it up. Of course, should you disagree, please feel free to revert me and I will seek further clarification on the sentence structure. Thank you. Jeremy (Message) 06:49, 9 December 2020 (UTC)
- Thank you for clarifying things Jeremy. Silly mistake on my part. Anyway, I've moved the discussion here from my user talk page because it will make it easier for others to join in if they want to do so and it will also make it easier to archive for future reference if by chance another editor makes the same mistake. -- Marchjuly (talk) 07:09, 9 December 2020 (UTC)

Isko Moreno → Francisco Domagoso – Commonly referred to by the media by his birth name. Shhhhwwww!! (talk) 07:09, 9 January 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose, most references on page and webhits seem to indicate his WP:COMMONNAME is "Isko Moreno".--Ortizesp (talk) 23:42, 9 January 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose per Ortizesp. Local media outlets still refer to him more often by his common name. LSGH (talk) (contributions) 10:11, 12 January 2021 (UTC)

I will be happy to review this entry. Larry Hockett (Talk) 23:30, 18 January 2021 (UTC)
Unfortunately, even at a quick glance, there are a number of problems that will require significant attention before promotion to GA status. This makes it inappropriate to continue with a detailed review right now.
The writing is quite rough in some sections. It appears that thorough proofreading was not carried out before nomination. Examples (just from the first few paragraphs) include:
- "screen name Isko Moreno or Yorme" - Is Yorme also a screen name or just a nickname? Source?
- "who currently serves as the 22nd mayor of Manila since 2019." --> has served?
- "he served as a former three-term councilor" --> as a three-term councilor
- "mature roles" - unclear if we are discussing his maturity as an actor or the fact that they were adult films
- "He appeared in Siya'y Nagdadalaga, and has appeared in movies such as Exploitation, Mga Babae sa Isla Azul and Misteryosa." - What is Siya'y Nagdadalaga? If it is a movie, the sentence can be simplified.
In general, the sourcing needs work. One passage is marked with a Citation needed tag, and other passages lack sourcing. There is also some use of user-generated sources such as IMDb. The electoral history charts are only partially sourced (and they appear to be incomplete). The sentence starting with "Likewise, for the past 100 days..." comes from this 2019 source and doesn't make sense in the context of this entry.
The lead will need to be expanded to provide a better summary of the body of the article.
The entry could use more details in some areas. For example, where did he attend high school?
The Rappler source is wishy-washy as to whether Moreno was actually arrested. It would be nice to find other sources that describe updates in the case. The first sentence in the arrest paragraph is too long.
Minor point: I don't think we need a link to the Manila mayor's page. It is just an excerpt from this entry.
This article was nominated under the Law category, but it seems to be a better fit under Politics and government. Moreno was once a law student but never a lawyer.
To sum up, this nomination is a quick fail because it is quite far from meeting the GA criteria related to well-written material and referencing. I think it would be most helpful to focus on these areas (a WP:GOCE request may be especially helpful) before proceeding with another GA nomination. Larry Hockett (Talk) 00:16, 19 January 2021 (UTC)
Says he would sign same-sex marriage bill if passed by congress
editSource is the Rappler interview. I'd like to see if there is opposition to this claim — Preceding unsigned comment added by Myrnamyers (talk • contribs) 14:43, 17 February 2022 (UTC)
- If you can provide a link for the interview, then I see no problem with adding it to the article. Itsquietuptown ✉️📜 10:38, 18 February 2022 (UTC)
Split proposed
editProposing to split Political positions section into another article named Political positions of Isko Moreno. The entire section is long and well-referenced to stand on its own. Sanglahi86 (talk) 21:10, 19 July 2022 (UTC)
- Support per same reasons with Sanglahi86. Nuwordlife0rder (talk) 17:48, 20 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Nuwordlife0rder: Perhaps doing a WP:BOLD split will do? It might take too long if a consensus needs to be reached given the absence of responses to this uncontroversial split proposal. I can do the bold split but maybe you prefer to do it since you are the main contributor of that section? –Sanglahi86 (talk) 09:50, 24 July 2022 (UTC)
- Yes, please go ahead with the WP:BOLD split. Please do create the article and I will make some follow-up edits if deemed necessary. Thank you. Nuwordlife0rder (talk) 05:49, 25 July 2022 (UTC)
- The split is done. Please add a summary for the Political positions section. Regards. –Sanglahi86 (talk) 10:42, 25 July 2022 (UTC)

Honorific prefix
edit@Nuwordlife0rder: With regard to this revision of yours, unless you can provide a link to a previous talk page discussion where this is the case, just self-revert and don't waste anyone else's time. And for the record, citing another article to justify a contentious edit in another article is not permissible in Wikipedia. Nineteen Ninety-Four guy (talk) 04:08, 10 February 2024 (UTC)
