BLP Notice
editI have added a notice on the BLP Noticeboard because of this edit:[1] which I believe violates BLP policy.
- Any additions to this article must be written from the neutral point of view and be based on reliable sources. Emphasizing recent press controversies may give undue weight to minor incidents. Wikipedia is not the place to spread rumors and gossip. Cullen328 (talk) 07:30, 3 July 2011 (UTC)
- Can you please point out which are the unreliable sources in this statements:
- "In 2011 June, Darbar made a controversy by making disparaging comments against celebrated composer A. R. Rahman and alleging him of bribing officials to get an Oscar. He followed that up with accusations of plagiarism.[1] Darbar's comments against a composer, who is described as world's most prominent and prolific composer, generated wide criticism. It has been rumoured that he has made this allegation to get publicity for his upcoming movie Romeo Juliet which he is directing himself.[2] Though Rahman had denied the charge, he had ruled out any legal action against Darbar for his defamatory allegation.[3] The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) has been contemplating to press defamation charges against Darbar for alleging that fellow composer A.R. Rahman had "bought" his Oscar award. According to sources, the AMPAS was contemplating to sue Darbar for $50 million.[4]"
- You can remove the statements that violate WP:NPOV but not the whole paragraph.
- Also here are the sources for the statements added by User:Let me tell you the truth. "He was also allegedly having an affair with contestant Poonam Yadav of sa re ga ma pa challenge 2007 which Ismail Darbar was one of the judge who later attempted suicide. Apparently, the reason behind Poonam's suicide attempt is an abortion she had six months ago.It is also believed it was Ismail Darbar's baby.": [2], [3], [4]
- Can you point out any guideline that prevents a user from adding important and sourced data to a biographical article. This person is best known for these controversies and it should to be mentioned but I too agree that a detailed description is not needed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Free Contributor (talk • contribs) 05:20, 4 July 2011 (UTC)
- One more sentence that is to be added can be found here: http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/videos/entertainment/bollywood/Ismail-Darbar-apologizes-to-Oscar-committee/videoshow/8860073.cms — Preceding unsigned comment added by Free Contributor (talk • contribs) 05:24, 4 July 2011 (UTC)
"Rumors" and "contemplated" actions
editRumors have no place in a biography of a living person on Wikipedia. Discussions of a "contemplated" lawsuit are also out of bounds. If the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences actually files a lawsuit, and that is reported in reliable sources, then perhaps a discussion written from the neutral point if view could be included. Wikipedia is not a tabloid newspaper. We don't report the whipped up controversy of the day. Cullen328 (talk) 05:59, 4 July 2011 (UTC)
Rumors
editI don't think that writing well referenced statement leads to creating rumors. The statements made by Ismail Darbar cannot be called as controversy of the day, specially when made against an internationally renowned music composer.Prav001 (talk) 14:31, 8 November 2011 (UTC)
- Do you intend to propose a specific addition to the article that fully complies with WP:BLP policy? If so, please post it here first, and see if it gains consensus. Thank you. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 15:26, 8 November 2011 (UTC)
- The issue is not so much creating rumors as it is repeating rumors. If you read the complete discussion above, you will see sources describing things as "rumors" or saying things are "alleged" or "contemplated". Such material does not belong in a Wikipedia biography. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 15:31, 8 November 2011 (UTC)

Early Life
editwhen drabar was a kid his father told him that he needed to stop playing games and start practicing music. However, he really liked playing games with his friends and didn't enjoy studying. 119.159.235.13 (talk) 17:29, 26 March 2024 (UTC)
