J.J. or J. J.?

Hickson's name is spelled without a space between the Js (J.J.). Shouldn't this article be moved to J.J. Hickson? See his NBA Draft page for an example. MTR (talk) 14:38, 12 July 2008 (UTC)

J. J. Hickson → JJ Hickson – I work in TV broadcasting and last season Hickson (with the Blazers) requested to go by JJ Hickson as opposed to J.J. Hickson. (See CC Sabathia for a similar situation.) You can also see Hickson's official page on NBA.com or the Nuggets official roster, which also has him lasted as JJ. Some placed still call him J.J. but that's because they weren't made aware of the change.

Probably, but it does not. CC Sabathia is the biggest example I can think of and if you tried to change it to "C. C. Sabathia" you'd be met with an uproar. When people chose to lose the periods, it almost ceases to be initials and rather just a word or name itself.►Chris Nelson^Holla! 08:36, 24 December 2013 (UTC)

• Support - default should use initials, but comparing Hickson's NBA.com profile to J. R. Smith's it is obvious that Hickson's is being treated differently, which supports the move. Rikster2 (talk) 17:12, 30 December 2013 (UTC)
• Oppose per WP:COMMONNAME, as I don't see predominant usage in reliable sources. Even today's article at Nuggets.com http://www.nba.com/nuggets/news/consistent-rotation-could-help-nuggets-find-groove still uses J. J.—Bagumba (talk) 20:17, 5 January 2014 (UTC)
