Canadian or American?

edit

I don't work for the USA network and don't have any information on Roday other than what is on the official website.

Is he American or Canadian? I don't know Scott Adler 22:09, 25 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

The Picture

edit

Why can wikipedia not use the same image as this: Shawn_Spencer.JPG (296 × 244 pixel, file size: 11 KB, MIME type: image/jpeg) Source:[1] , from the fictional character page of Shawn Spencer to show James Roday???? Chado2423 05:34, 29 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

I think the main reason is that the photo in question is a copyrighted image and under a fair-use rationale. The picture in question is an irreplacable picture of James Roday on the set of Psych. This picture is of a small size and shows James Roday doing his profession. Wikipedia states: "Please note that our policy usually considers fair use images of living people that merely show what they look like to be replaceable by free-licensed images and unsuitable for the project." If we were to place this photo in James Roday's article, we are doing this just to show what he looks like. A free-image is easier to get of just him (i.e. free-lance work). Lastly it looks corny to have the same photo on two pages that are about an actor and a character he plays.

Including 'hispanic' in the first line

edit

The reason I deleted a reference to 'hispanic' in the first line has to do with issues of summarization and part-whole analysis. An introductory line should only feature the most basic rationale for the article's existence. The primary reason there is an article on James Roday is that he is an actor...not that he is hispanic. Hence, that he is an actor (on Psych) is the main reason. It's like saying that the reason Serena Williams is famous is that she is a tennis player. That she is 'black' is a secondary trait that can be mentioned later (such as 'categories'), not a primary reason. Given that, perhaps, someone included the 'hispanic' reference due to the anglo-ization of his last name, the best solution is to simply include the 'original name' in parentheses.Ryoung122 00:32, 9 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Don't over-crop. I for one am not a fan of 'instant' biography: the person means nothing until 'discovered' by Warner Bros. NO. This top-down approach fails to appreciate that the person in the biography laid the groundwork for future success. As not only an actor but also running his own theater company...

Now, if you think some of that material is fabricated, then delete. But if real it should be left.Ryoung122 05:14, 4 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Jamesroday.jpg

edit

Image:Jamesroday.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Writing

edit

I know he has writing credits for several episodes of Psych (including the season 3 finale), but I can't find a reference anywhere for which ones he wrote/cowrote. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.102.128.131 (talk) 08:26, 27 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

If you type in "List Psych Episodes" or "Psych writers list" you can see who wrote each episode. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.189.221.223 (talk) 23:41, 2 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
