Title of this Page
editIsn't Jantar Mantar a more appropriate title, as it is the name by which everyone knows the observatory? (How many people would search for "Yantra Mandir"?) Moreover, on the web one finds both "Yantra Mandir" and "Yantra Mantra" as the supposed original names. Which is correct? Mahoka 09:24, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
- Jantar Mantar is the most used name. I think it should be moved there (request can be done on Wikipedia:Requested_moves#Uncontroversial_proposals. This also counts for the Delhi Jantar Mantar. Wiki-uk 05:21, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
Suggestion:- The Hindi (Devnagari) type of Yantra Mandir is given incorrect. The 'anuswar' on 'tr' is extra and in Mandir it should be small 'í' I am surprised that even a child can write these 2 words correctly, but some people don't shame to give such incorrect information. Before you allow something on your website, please check that with a specialist. Specially internet users from India are mostly teenagers and fun-users and are not reliable so they can cause severe harm to your website. - The correct name is Jantar Mantar, in which Mantar derives from the Sanskrit Mantra and has nothing to do with Mandir. Somebody please get these names change back. deeptrivia (talk) 21:55, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
It seems that the title of this page should be "Samrat Yantra," as the article primarily discusses the giant sundial. As I understand, the site Jantar Mantar consists of a collection of instruments. The sundial is only one of them. http://www.jantarmantar.org/Architecture_Science_web.pdf Koppas (talk) 21:09, 14 November 2008 (UTC)

Yantra Mantra → Jantar Mantar –
- move to attested and most common name, instead of a back-formed name that source says occurs nowhere in the literature. Can't move it myself because Jantar Mantar has a history before it was merged with this back in 2006. Shreevatsa (talk) 19:51, 22 July 2013 (UTC) Shreevatsa (talk) 19:51, 22 July 2013 (UTC)

Photos are too large
editTo whom it may concern: The two photos are too large. I cannot change it (I'm a dummy in this).--CarstenH (talk) 16:31, 30 September 2013 (UTC)
- I've made the photos smaller, but I don't vouch for the content of the page. I haven't even read it properly. Shreevatsa (talk) 10:13, 1 October 2013 (UTC)
Jantar Mantar at Mathura
editIt is stated:
- ...the Jantar Mantar at Mathura was torn down just before the revolt of 1857...
Does anyone know the circumstances that led to the demolition? Who did it and why? Was there opposition to the demolition?
