Links
editI see that links to the fan site (http://www.geocities.com/dwan_y/) and fan blog (http://jenniferehle.blogspot.com) keep getting removed. While I understand that these aren't official sources, they are the largest collections of information on her work - definitely more accurate and comprehensive than IMDB and IBDB. Indeed, they are sources for much of the biographical details on this page. Is there not an argument for keeping them in? 210.4.224.210 (talk) 05:17, 5 June 2008 (UTC)TD
- In the links section, the part saying "Jennifer Ehle fan site: comprehensive fan site comprising of filmography, biography, articles and images" doesn't link to anywhere. I'm not gonna remove the link just now, incase it is just temporarily down. -OOPSIE- 00:23, 27 December 2005 (UTC)
- The site address has been changed; I've linked to the new one. ----Jennite
Nationality
editI am not so sure about Jennifer Ehle being an American actress altogether which is of course debateable. But since her mother is English and her father American,I think she can be called both.
I think it makes more sense to describe her as British so I changed it. Quite a few British actors are listed under the "American actors" category on WP, even those of British parentage and citizenship. It doesn't seem to work the other way though- Halle Berry and Alicia Silverstone aren't categorised under British actors, despite having at least one British parent. JW
You are right, though I just read an article recently where they said that she lives in the U.S. and has a soft American accent now. I wonder if it is true.
A recent interview on the BBC's "Woman's Hour" confirms the accent thing. Also, if you read the fan interview linked at the bottom of the main page, she says she considers herself American. She lives in the US and is married to an American. ----Jennite
- (The Ehles are friends of my family.) She's definitely American ... but she has done most of her acting in the UK. So she's a "British actress" I suppose. I'm going to get some current info and update the pages accordingly (and create one for John). Joe n bloe 10:34, 16 December 2005 (UTC)
Friends of family here, too. Yes, soft blend of American and Brittish accent. Haven't heard George yet, but I'll bet he'll pick up some Brit! Soltera (talk) 15:33, 20 May 2011 (UTC)
I changed her to American actress. She may have a British Accent, but if she were born in Winston-Salem NC, she's most certainly an American, and without a reliable source saying she also has British Citizenship, she should remain as only American here 2A02:C7D:CA32:CC00:780F:D502:C2E2:7696 (talk) 07:54, 9 April 2017 (UTC)
- She is on record as stating she got British citizenship when she was cast in Pride and Prejudice. Without a reliable source saying she has since renounced it, she would be accurately described as an American and British actress. StrodoDoggins (talk) 19:01, 21 April 2023 (UTC)
Mrs Wilde
editThe subject also played the role of Oscar Wilde's wife in the film Wilde with Stephen Fry as Oscar but I'm not sure when this was without checking. SmokeyTheCat 11:39, 14 January 2011 (UTC)
Ah, 1997 I now see. SmokeyTheCat 11:40, 14 January 2011 (UTC)
