Article cleanup
editI agree with the claim that it sounds like a press release (see "Aftermath of Dreamgirls Movie") also, this claim needs a citation
"rumored to be an insufferable diva"
I added the cleanup tag today; the article has a number of issues, including:
- POV problems (it reads a bit like a press release; and at times like a gushing fan site)
- Grammar
- Spelling
- Formatting
- Organization of information
- Repeating information
I'll do what I can, but I'd love some help. -- weirdoactor t|c -- 18:47, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
- There is no clear reason for this article to require cleanup. This is particularly because the article has never sounded like a fan site and it's not suppost to. There is no cleanup needed because everything in this article is a fact, not an opinion. There is nothing that clearly states an opinion here. I see no reason for the user above to do this. LovePatsyCline 23:22, 6 December 2006 (UTC)
- Examples:
- Repeating information - landed her first big role on Broadway in 1980, when she landed her first notable role
- NPOV/peacock terms - particularly in her iconic performance
- No citation - Her performance in the role was widely acclaimed
- Poor sentence structure, spelling error, no citation - The version of the song was liked by many fans so much that Holliday was encouraged to tranform the song into a hit
- Poor sentence structure - Other hits continued to follow success
- Even your recent edit contained peacock terms and NPOV statements, with no citation. You've made my point about it being more like a "gushing fansite" rather than an encyclopedia article. I'll be adding back the cleanup tag; if you remove it again, I'll be forced to file an RFC for you and this article. Please try to work within the collaborative nature and policy of Wikipedia, and try not to edit articles with a mind to "ownership". Thank you. -- weirdoactor t|c -- 23:35, 6 December 2006 (UTC)
- Wait a minute! There is nothing wrong with this article and you weirdo actor are stupid to think this! --Musicaltheatrewiz 13:32, 9 December 2006 (UTC) 13:30, 9 December 2006 (UTC) 13:29, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
- Interesting "argument". Would you like to try again, perhaps using a more civil tone, and by providing specifics? Thanks! -- weirdoactor t|c -- 14:10, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
I would love to hear something about the education of JH. Where and what did she study etc. --80.135.210.241 17:35, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
MS
editthe following was copied from Template talk:Talk header, where an IP editor placed it, apparently by mistake. I am copying it here because it might get useful attention here, and it is very unlikely to there. I have no opinion on the substance of the comments. DES (talk) 21:12, 16 January 2014 (UTC)
HI, I was surprised to see that in your information regarding Jennifer Holliday, there was no information on her challenges dealing with M.S., which caused her both paralysis and blindness, which she has been very courageously overcoming. In a recent TV Show (Feb. 14) Steve Harvey, she spoke about these challenges. As there are numerous people who use Wikipedia who are suffering with disabilities and chronic illness, I think it would be important to include this information in your write-up on Ms. Holliday. She has also released her first CD in 20 Years. Respectfully submitted, J. Cressy — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.48.76.74 (talk) 20:50, 16 January 2014 (UTC)
