Career records

The Irlams o' th' Height and Swinton Lions articles both state that Jim Valentine holds Swinton's "Most Tries in a Season" record with 48-tries, in the 1888–89 season. However, it appears that "Maule, Raymond (1992). The Complete Who's Who of England Rugby Union Internationals. Derby: Breedon Books. p. 166." states that Jim Valentine scored 61-tries, in the 1889–90 season. Does anyone know which is correct? Best Regards. DynamoDegsy (talk) 12:42, 12 October 2011 (UTC) 48 tries is correct. The best person to verify this is Steve Wild, director of Swinton RLFC and club historian. No good arguing with him, he really knows his stuff, guaranteed. Irlams o' th' Height is included here as he was buried just over the boundary in Pendlebury (St John's Church, Bolton Road (A666), Pendlebury).Reply
