Date of Birth
editSeems to be some issue with her year of birth although the article says 1979 whcih agrees with sources on the internet users keep changing it to 1980. I dont have a problem either way but we do need a reliable reference for either date as I suspect each of these websites just copy each other. Comments welcome. In an interview for the Mail on Sunday (5 December) Froggatt herself seemed to confirm that 1980 is correct because she insisted (at the time of interview anyway) that she was 30 and that the date given by Wikipedia was wrong. IXIA (talk) 22:31, 7 December 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for that the source for the 1979 appears to be IMDB but an interview by the subject would appear to be more reliable pointer to 1980. MilborneOne (talk) 18:38, 8 December 2010 (UTC)

Place of Birth?
editThere seems to be some misunderstanding about birthplace. Local sources i.e Scarborough Evening News, Yorkshire Evening Post etc, state that Joanne was born in Scarborough, but grew up in Littlebeck (near Whitby). However, more international sources have her down as born and raised in Littlebeck. There doesn't seem to be a definitive answer? Littlebeck is in the Borough of Scarborough, but not in the town itself & Littlebeck is a small village, so she may have been a homebirth? Scarborough is the large local maternity unit, but babies are born at Whitby too?? Short of asking herself directly, nothing seems concrete. 75% of sources state Scarborough as the most 'likely' place of birth, but this may be lazy journalism, Ben Kingsley is often placed as Scarborough-born, when he was born 9 mile away in Snainton! Anybody got a clue?
- The best way to deal with these type of discrepancies wherein there are conflicting sources is to address them both in the article such as "born in Scarborough (although some sources report Littlebeck as her place of birth)" and citing an example for both. --Jezebel'sPonyobons mots 15:10, 22 November 2011 (UTC)
Place of Birth needs verification, local press always states that Joanne was born in Scarborough (town), but moved to Littlebeck as a child. International websites have her as Littlebeck-born, which is a tiny village (home birth??)>. Littlebeck is the the Borough of Scarborough, but definetly not the town. Needs Clarification.
- View is that the reliable source says Littlebeck. Views that local press 'always' says Scarborough, that she had a home birth etc can only be without verification at this stage - unless you know otherwise?.--Egghead06 (talk) 06:04, 24 November 2011 (UTC)
Whilst appreciating that 'local' sources state that Joanne was born in Scarborough (i.e the town, & in in all probability Scarborough Hospital), there seems to be an insistance that she was born in Littlebeck (which is Scarborough district, near Whitby). It is certainly true that Joanne was raised in Littlebeck, but there is NO evidence whatsoever that she was born in Littlebeck!!! Why does all local media state that she is Scarborough-born????
- As before - all we have without a reliable source is original reasearch and nothing that can be verified by readers.--Egghead06 (talk) 04:39, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
Daily Mail Dec 9th 2010, Joanne born in Scarborough & moved to Littlebeck aged 4, i'e 'the village near Whitby'
- I've confirmed the Daily Mail article[1]:
She was born in 1980 in Scarborough, to parents she paints as determined freethinkers. Her dad ran a confectionery business, but sold it when Joanne was four so that the Froggatts could move to a smallholding in Whitby where the family tried its hand at living ‘the good life’.
- That certainly seems the most logical explanation. I know that we are to generally avoid tabloids such as Daily Mail, but in this case, it seems in line with the previous discussion. I'm not familiar with administrative jurisdictions in England, but if both Scarborough and Littlebeck are within the same county (or whatever is the English equivalent), then that could be stated definitively (since we have both locations covered). Then a comment such as, "It is reported that she moved from Scarborough to Littlebeck at the age of four..." and leave it at that. Since I am not at all familiar with English geography or local administrative divisions, I will leave the decision up to someone else who is. —Willscrlt ( Talk | com | b:en | meta ) 13:31, 3 August 2014 (UTC)
Early career vs later career
editDoes anyone else think it odd that Downton Abbey is listed under "Early life, education and early career", then there is no mention of it under "Later career"? Chris the speller yack 06:18, 22 February 2012 (UTC)
- Yes. It needs reworking. LadyofShalott 19:48, 21 July 2012 (UTC)
