Talk:Jocelyn Yow
Statement of Notability: The topic of my article, Jocelyn Yow, meets the notability requirements for Wikipedia because there are several reputable news articles written about her and her title as the youngest woman of color to serve as mayor of a California city. For example, KCal News, a sector of CBS Los Angeles News which is a reputable organization covering news in the LA area, wrote an article about Yow’s position titled, “25-Year-Old Jocelyn Yow Is Youngest Woman Of Color to Serve As A Mayor In California. She is also recognized internationally with Malaysian news companies such as The Rakyat Post who wrote an article titled, “Jocelyn Yow Is The Malaysian-Vietnamese-American Woman Who Has Been Elected As A US Mayor”. An educational institution, Norco College, where Yow briefly studied also provided information about her educational background through an article titled, “Norco College Alumni, Jocelyn Yow, Becomes State of California's Youngest Woman of Color to Serve As Mayor”. The aforementioned articles are notable because they are all written by either reputable news organizations or educational institutions, so they are reliable. Additionally, they do not provide opinions and simply cover the news regarding her earning of the position and what led to that moment. Lastly, all of these articles are independently written from Yow, thus this topic meets Wikipedia’s notability requirements.
