Review
edit@Rhain: Sorry I took so long. I truly had so much else going on. I've looked through this, and the only things I would have added were links to the game's in question, since he appears in both entries. I've taken the liberty of adding those edits myself, and otherwise I'd say this is an easy Pass. --ProtoDrake (talk) 21:16, 22 August 2020 (UTC)

- Seemingly distracted GA was complete on August 22, which checks out datewise here, and the length is good. Neutrality is fine but two paragraphs need references, the last two in the "Appearances" section. Very low chance of paraphrasing, no copyvio, QPQ complete. The hooks are okay, with my preference firmly on the top one. The photo is public domain, one of the zillions from Gage Skidmore. Binksternet (talk) 05:21, 30 August 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks for the review, Binksternet. Both of those paragraphs are basic plot descriptions and do not require references per MOS:PLOT. – Rhain ☔ 05:39, 30 August 2020 (UTC)

Joel's age
editI removed content [1] about Joel's age that was sourced to an article published almost a year before the game was released to suggest there is a discrepancy about Joel's age in the game. The in-game details are clear, and there was clearly a change pre-release to the actual details about the game and character when it was released. This type of outdated information is not appropriate in a section describing Joel's age, although it may be relevant to the "Creation" section of the article, especially if there are details about why the change was made prior to the game's release. Another editor, Rhain, has reverted my suggested change twice [2] [3], and so I have started this discussion to form a consensus about whether the content should be included, as well as where and how it should be included if appropriate, as per WP:ONUS. – notwally (talk) 21:32, 4 January 2024 (UTC)
- The in-game details are not, in fact, clear, as it was only stated in a minor Easter egg in 2022. That's nine years of publications describing Joel's age as "late 40s". The discrepancy bears inclusion. – Rhain ☔ (he/him) 01:08, 5 January 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for the response, Rhain. The only source cited in the content I removed regarding the disputed age was before the game was published in 2012. Are there any sources after the game was published that also describe his age as "late 40s"? – notwally (talk) 20:06, 5 January 2024 (UTC)
- Rhain, I noticed you had found two publications subsequent to when the game was published describing the age as "late 40s". Therefore, I would support readding the content but changing the note to be accurate as to the cited information. One suggestion would be:
Joel was initially described as being in his "late 40s" in The Last of Us (2013) (ref to VentureBeat and Wood citations), while in-game details in The Last of Us Part I (2022) list his birth year as 1981.
- Done, thanks. – Rhain ☔ (he/him) 23:08, 5 January 2024 (UTC)

Overlinking
editRhain has restored almost every wikilink I had recently removed as per the WP:OVERLINK policy in this edit. Common terms, location names, and links that are already in the article especially in immediately preceding paragraphs, should not be wikilinked. I would be more than willing to discuss any of my changes, but simply reverting almost all of the efforts of other contributors does not help improve articles or reach consensus. – notwally (talk) 20:13, 5 January 2024 (UTC)
- Reverting, like discussion, is a normal procedure on Wikipedia and often does serve to improve articles. None of the links I restored are duplicate links; take and antihero are not everyday words; and not all locations are "major" and therefore avoided (Los Angeles and New York, perhaps, but not so much San Antonio or Austin, Texas). I agreed with some of your removals, but the links I restored are logical inclusions. – Rhain ☔ (he/him) 23:18, 5 January 2024 (UTC)
