Talk:Jun (Chinese entertainer)

Chinese name

edit

Because his Chinese name is 文俊辉 (Wen Junhui), that means 文 (Wen) is his last name. A few parts of the article use Wen instead of Jun/Junhui. Should it be used in this way? Or should we begin using Jun/Junhui instead? Mixsmirai (talk) 11:12, 14 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Wen should be used per WP:SURNAME Evaders99 (talk) 20:34, 14 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
Cool cool. It just looked confusing to me but now it all makes sense. XD. Mixsmirai (talk) 07:10, 16 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Wen Junhui was a child actor who played leading roles in multiple films and won the Hong Kong Film Directors' Guild's Best New Performer Silver Award in 2007, long before he became a member of Seventeen. As such, he easily satisfies the notability criteria per WP:ENTERTAINER. -Zanhe (talk) 06:07, 31 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. The result of the move request was: moved. The consensus leans towards supporting the move to a more specific disambiguation. Although some oppose the change, the reasoning for disambiguation—especially with clear precedents from WP:NCP—holds more weight. The name "Jun" is shared by two entertainers, and clarifying this by adding either the nationality ("Jun (Chinese entertainer)") or the birth year ("Jun (entertainer, born 1996)") provides necessary clarity.

The most suitable new title is "Jun (Chinese entertainer)", as it is clearer and avoids confusion based on nationality, following Wikipedia's disambiguation practices for individuals in similar fields. (closed by non-admin page mover) Vanderwaalforces (talk) 22:36, 10 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Jun (entertainer)Jun (Seventeen singer) – (alternative titles welcome, perhaps Jun (entertainer, born 19971996), though that's not ideal either) – Currently ambiguous with Lee Jun-young (entertainer), who comes up first in a search for jun actor. Correction included above with strikethrough. — BarrelProof (talk) 16:39, 3 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Perhaps Jun (Chinese entertainer)? Generally group names are not used to disambiguate but nationalities would work here. orangesclub 🍊 21:35, 29 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Necrothesp: This Jun was born in 1996; the other one was born in 1997. Although this Jun is in a South Korean band, he has also had a significant amount of notability in China, and is known for release of a Chinese cover of one of the band's songs (with lyrics in Chinese that he wrote), so I suspect he may not be perceived as Korean. — BarrelProof (talk) 15:57, 3 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
They’re born in different years. RachelTensions (talk) 16:14, 3 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
My mistake. In that case, I support Jun (entertainer, born 1996. -- Necrothesp (talk) 07:37, 4 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
  • Comment: I still oppose (I think moving this article because of another person who doesn’t even use this article title makes things unnecessarily complicated), but if the consensus ends up being to move, we need to clarify exactly what we’re moving it to because “Jun (Seventeen singer)” as the nomination is for right now is definitely not the appropriate title in any circumstance. RachelTensions (talk) 16:21, 3 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
My preference is Jun (Chinese entertainer). My second choice would be Jun (entertainer, born 1996). — BarrelProof (talk) 16:39, 3 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
