K. A. J. Schimidt
editAccording to the references of this article, it is not clear wether Schmidt was dutch, danish or german. In two english-written newspapers from India (ref.s 1 & 4), he's mentioned as an "European sailor", in the other two and in some of the external links, he´s mentioned as being either Dutch or Danish. Based on this lack of clear- and unequivocal information and unless this question rest unresolved, I'd replace the natonal adjectives "Dutch", "Danish" with "European" — Preceding unsigned comment added by Flashbyte (talk • contribs) 10:39, 27 January 2016 (UTC)
Kaj Schmidt
editHis name was Kaj, pronounced Kai. The memorial stone clearly shows it. If it were K. A. J. then the letters would be spaced out. The name is common in Denmark and Sweden. The whole entry needs to be edited.

- Thank you for the input. I see even the local sources didn't get his name right, partly owing to its foreign pronunciation, and instead took his first name as his initials. I guess the name "Karl" is just a mispronunciation of the Scandinavian "Kaj".
Can you please find some sources for these? Thanks again. Rasnaboy (talk) 02:59, 25 March 2022 (UTC)- There are quite a few sources online that mention his name as Kaj and that he was born in Denmark. If someone has the time, they can search a Danish archive for that period and confirm it.

- I noticed that someone edited Kaj to Karl, but someone has added a definitive article with his full name, thus killing the "Karl" version for good, I hope. Ash (talk) 00:14, 18 January 2023 (UTC)
