Only tivra ma
Ma*
There was this major misconception on this page for a very long time that the ragaswaroopa, of Kalyani depends only on the Prathi madhyamam. And that if one does not stress it enough, it becomes Shankarabharanam. Though Kalyani differs from Shankarabharanam only by one note, the introduction of Prathi Madhyamam changes the gamaka that one puts on rishaabham. In Shankarabharanam the gamaka on 'ri' oscillates between chatussruti rishabham and suddha madhyamam, in kalyani there is merely an emphasis on the rishabham and not an oscillation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Swiftdragon5 (talk • contribs) 04:02, 11 November 2015 (UTC)
My teacher told me that shuddha ma is actually not allowed to be used in Yamana only Tivra Ma Is that not correct? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.182.35.132 (talk) 20:43, 22 October 2011 (UTC)
- That is correct. Yaman uses only teevra madhyam, while Yaman Kalyan uses both madhyams. 140.177.205.223 (talk) 21:44, 25 April 2013 (UTC)
