The following seems not to make sense: "Kapingamarangi has a population of about 700, most of whom live on Pohnpei." The island of Pohnpei is ~750km away from Kapingamarangi. If you live on Pohnpei, how can you be considered part of Kapingamarangi's population? If, on the other hand, "Pohnpei" is referring to the state of Pohnpei, then everyone in Kapingamarangi lives in Pohnpei. Right? It's entirely possible, though, that I'm just reading something wrong.  : ) Fried Gold 17:25, 29 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

No, you're not reading anything wrong. That's what it said in plain English, and it was utter nonsense. I have to use the past instead of the present, because I already removed the statement in question. However, the current resident population of the atoll is around 500, not 700. So I cannot rule out that the 700 figure (which I could not verify anywhere) would include some 200 Kapingamarangi Polynesians who moved to the state's main island of Pohnpei.--Ratzer (talk) 09:42, 9 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Judging by Kapingamarangi language, I'm guessing this is referring to people of the Kapingamarangi ethnicity? Mcavoybickford (talk) 22:06, 26 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
