Hi, where is the quote with 32 digits of pi is actually from in the rig Veda? I can't find it anywhere. When I use Google I only get blogs who quoted the quote but not the actual source. Can anyone help me and update the article? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.138.197.40 (talk) 09:03, 9 December 2019 (UTC) Katapayadi sankhya as it is known in the Carnatic music literature is only an application of the then popular system of representing numbers. The system was not limited to Carnatic music. It was primarily used by astronomers and mathematicians. It is suggested to merge the Katapayadi sankhya article to the broader concept Katapayadi due to concept overlap. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Navneetvk (talk • contribs) 17:24, 2 January 2010 (UTC)--n@vneet 17:31, 2 January 2010 (UTC)
Katapayadi sankhya has been merged to the broader concept Katapayadi. Now Katapayadi sankhya redirects here. --n@vneet 11:59, 9 November 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Navneetvk (talk • contribs)

editIn Vararuchi main page, his son Mezhathol Agnihotri lived between 343-373 BCE, citation provided. So undoubtedly his father Vararuchi lived sometime before that. Also, it is mentioned in the same article that he is often identified with Kātyāyana, who lived in 3rd century BCE, cited. Both of these indicate that Vararuchi lived in 3rd century BCE. Whatever it is, there is no way he lived after CE. But in this page, it is said he lived in 4th century CE, that too without any citation. Another thing is that, in Aryabhata main page, Aryabhata's lifetime is mentioned as 476-550 CE, long after Vararuchi's time. So it is impossible that the Katapayadi system originated from Āryabhaṭa numeration. Thus the last sentence (not the whole paragraph) in the 'History' section of this page is irrelevant. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 27.97.210.241 (talk) 19:11, 26 January 2020 (UTC)
