Duplication

This page duplicates preexisting page, Black Friday Alabama mall shooting. In such a case, our standard procedure is to merge new article - this one - into the older article Black Friday Alabama mall shooting. While an accident seems to have occur with regards to the articles, I do not support a merge since this is referring to the second part of the shooting, which seems to be more notable when taking international sources into consideration than the shooting in general. --Super Goku V (talk) 23:29, 30 November 2018 (UTC)

@E.M.Gregory: I merged the older article into this page just a moment ago, because this article is better sourced and the death of the individual, not the shooting itself, is notable. Sanity check

It seems beyond belief that within 5 seconds of a shooting, someone else would be fleeing the scene with a gun in hand. A few minutes research showed that was not the case. Bradford was moving towards the shooting, presumably with the intention of intervening (though clearly we have no source for that). There are lessons to be learned here that are not available without this fact. All the best: Rich Farmbrough 16:44, 26 June 2020 (UTC).

I remember it being reported that the victim was observed to have distanced himself from the initial shooting, looked around, withdrew and armed his sidearm, and then advanced upon the site of the initial shooting with his sidearm held in front in a two-handed grip. (Think of police on TV after being shot upon.) Also reported, he was on leave from the US Army having completed Basic Training and waiting for his Advanced Infantry School. US Army acquaintances tell me that during Basic, recruits are indoctrinated (trained until automatic) in the correct response to an armed attack upon oneself or others. Retreat to a place of safety (you can't help if dead), determine the situation, determine assistance you can provide, provide that assistance. The description of his actions seem to follow Army indoctrination. Further, this style of sidearm use is rarely seen among those not formally trained. Justification was the police officer saw the sidearm. If true, he also saw the style of sidearm use and should have held fire until he knew the status of the victim. • Oppose: If the argument is naming consistency, there are many many more articles about fatal shootings that are named "Shooting of" than "Killing of". Renamings in the other direction would be the way to resolve the fact that a small number of articles are inconsistent with that general convention. —BarrelProof (talk) 04:41, 9 October 2020 (UTC)
