Just because it's the 2nd most frequent surname in Croatia, does not mean that the Surname is Croatian. Many of Serbs were forced to convert to Catholicism during each and every war throughout the Balkans, some fled the Ottoman Empire for similar reasons, and others were pressured into converting from Orthodoxy to Catholicism by the Fascist regime during the WWII. Kovacevic is a Serbian Surname. You have to remember that Serbia was in between the Vatican and Catholicism and Byzantium/Constantinople, so many with a weak heart, difficult circumstances, and others with no other choice were forced to convert, thus living in Croatia. Kovacevic is a Serbian Surname, which goes back to Kosovo i Metohija.
Kovačević is the 2nd most common surname in Croatia, therefore it is Croatian now, and that's all that matters. Please do not remove WP banners. GregorB (talk) 11:42, 21 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
