Picture
editThat picture does not do her justice, whatsoever. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.6.101.19 (talk) 04:17, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
I agree, not only is it unflattering, but more importantly, it is not representative of what Kristen Wiig normally looks like. Someone at least try to find a picture that accurately displays what she usually looks like. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.30.91.78 (talk) 05:39, 20 February 2010 (UTC)
- How do you want to know what she looks like normally? We all know her only from appearing in character, on shows or at events. That doesn't tell us anything about her personal style. As to the photograph, I think the only picture that would be unflattering, had to be one taken of her while being totally inebriated, which of course never has happened nor will in the future. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.180.100.174 (talk) 07:30, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
- What a strange thing to say. And yet, someone had to say it. That in itself is strange. – AndyFielding (talk) 10:51, 21 October 2022 (UTC)
Original Characters
editWhy do people keep removing the section which describes her original characters? Virtually every other SNL actor has this section. What harm is it doing? If you are going to remove the section of her Original Characters, then you MUST remove the section of her Celebrity Characters. Why is one more important than the other? This is so stupid. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.207.71.9 (talk) 23:03, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
Because every single one of her SNL characters are extremely annoying. 199.107.45.222 (talk) 22:40, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
Does that mean we are allowed to delete the pages for all the characters we find annoying? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 189.83.83.42 (talk) 15:53, 23 May 2010 (UTC)
- Content in articles must be verified as having been published in reliable third party sources. If you can find sources about the characters, appropriate length descriptions and commentary can be added. Without third party sources, content will likely be removed as a violation of WP:OR - the personal opinions and perspectives of wikipedia editors. Active Banana (talk) 16:26, 23 May 2010 (UTC)
- How do we know that's not just your opinion, though? When you get right down to it, everything is someone's opinion. Okay, I'm just being controversial. Even that's an opinion, though, so there you go. – AndyFielding (talk) 10:53, 21 October 2022 (UTC)
Editing by someone claiming to be from Wiig's management company
editFYI a series of edits including this one [1] appear to have been made by someone stating they are representing Wiig.
The content itself appears to be reliably sourced and non-libelous in nature and therefore simply the desire of the person involved to not have it made public is not adequate reason for removal (see WP:NPOV and WP:V and WP:WELLKNOWN "If an allegation or incident is notable, relevant, and well-documented, it belongs in the article—even if it is negative and the subject dislikes all mention of it."). I am however willing to hear arguements that the content is not helpful for a reader to understand the subject of the article (under WP:IINFO) or is somehow give excessive weight to the information (WP:UNDUE) or other policy based rationale. Active Banana (talk) 15:42, 21 May 2010 (UTC)
- This content has been removed many, many times and this is the first time I have seen anyone claim to represent Wiig. Reliably sourced content is perfectly acceptable and we don't generally remove content that is reliably sourced to please an article subject. If the person wants to content OTRS and provide reliable proof that they are speaking for Wiig, then that is another matter entirely and not one that is left to editors to verify. Mentioning a former marriage is not a liability matter or contentious. Wildhartlivie (talk) 21:17, 21 May 2010 (UTC)
- The content was also removed by Special:Contributions/Kayla_WKT. Active Banana (bananaphone 20:44, 20 December 2010 (UTC)
Original Research
editCalling the movies she has appeared in "notable" without citing secondary sources is Original Research, so I have removed the word. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.171.176.97 (talk) 04:53, 21 November 2010 (UTC)
Early career
editWiig did get a job as a graphic artist in plastic surgery, but never showed up. She apparently had an epiphany days before starting at the job, and decided to move to LA to pursue a career in acting instead. [1]

Pronunciation?
editSo, how is her last name pronounced? (It's two syllables, right?) And what is the origin of the name? For such an unusual name, I think we ought to include this information. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.49.83.62 (talk) 22:31, 13 May 2011 (UTC) it is pronounced like wig —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.39.88.156 (talk) 19:06, 14 May 2011 (UTC)
Issues with the current article
editMy edits were deleted earlier-- Kristen has looked over the article and found factual errors. Here's the email I got from her publicist,
First paragraph: Add in Knocked Up and Bored to Death after Bridesmaids. Early career: Remove Kristen working a # of jobs including working as a graphic artist in plastic surgery, where she showed patients what they would look like post-surgery. This is not true. Remove Jason Sudeikis’ quote. TV: Mindy Gracin is spelt wrong. It is actually Grayson. Add that Carey was nominated in the same category in 2010 AND 2011. Remove Wiig has accompanied Lorne Michaels while he auditions potential SNL players. This is not true. Film: Move ‘Wiig also had a lead role in Greg Mottola’s Paul’ from the last paragraph in the film section to the end of the first paragraph in the film section. Personal Life: Remove Kristen’s marriage to Hayes Hargrove. Awards: Would like to add in that Kristen won Best Comedy Actress at the first annual The Comedy Awards in 2011.
I'll change it back again and we can argue over this back and forth or you guys can stop messing with the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by LadyUranus (talk • contribs) 19:13, 27 July 2011 (UTC)

Celebrity impressions */ Removed BLP unsourced tag
editSeriously, the policy is: "Unsourced or poorly sourced contentious material about living persons must be removed immediately from the article and its talk page, especially if potentially libellous." Emphasis added. Contentious? She does these on television. People have seen them. if you think there's an error in the list, edit it, but it's not contentious that she does these impressions, like it's not contentious she's on SNL. Roanoke College?
editI just added a {{Citation needed}} tag regarding her attending Roanoke College. It appears this statement was added February 18, 2012:
https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Kristen_Wiig&diff=477519715&oldid=477153747
The only reference I can find which does not sound as if it was derived from the Wikipedia article, is this one:
http://voices.yahoo.com/how-kristen-wiig-became-one-funniest-women-11549290.html
However, that article was written a few months after the statement was added to Wikipedia, so I'd like to see a reference that existed prior to February of 2012.
Style
editIt would be interesting to write about her style making humour. I will try to look for it. Help needed/requested.--Tipar (talk) 22:19, 4 March 2016 (UTC)
Is the given pronunciation correct?
editThe pronounciation of her surname is given as /wɪɡ/. Is this correct, and does anyone know of a source where she discusses the pronunciation of her surname in text or even a voice recording of her pronouncing it? In Norwegian the usual pronunciation would be /viːɡ/ (roughly the same as how the made-up word "veeg" would be pronounced in English). I don't expect that she -- or Americans in general -- pronounces it in the Norwegian way, of course, but what surprises me is the implication that it's pronounced with a short "i" sound, i.e. that it's pronounced just like the word "wig" is. Is this correct, or is the vowel in fact closer to "ee", in which case the IPA should be changed to /wiːɡ/? Aqwis (talk) 14:15, 8 December 2021 (UTC)
Monologue mention; semi-protect
editClaims about the article content were just made in the monologue of Saturday Night Live, and followed through on by an anon, so the article is semi-protected. -- Zanimum (talk) 04:48, 17 December 2023 (UTC)
