Independent country now?

edit

Recent edits by user @Modazadi5: seem to have made Kurdistan an independent country, established a central bank and currency, moved the capital, etc. I for one wasn't aware of these developments, nor are there reliable sources supporting any of that. I propose to revert all these edits back to the pre-Feb 6 state, but wanted to discuss first before making such a wholesale reversion. Views? --DoubleGrazing (talk) 08:33, 7 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Climate - missing Köppen classification

edit

In the climate section, the Mediterranean influence on the climate (dry summers) is not directly mentioned (though it is on the page for Erbil, whose climate data table is used here), and the Köppen classification (which I believe is BShCsa typically, and a matter of routine calculation) is not given at all, although this may be because this is the Kurdistan Region page, and such a wide area cannot have a homogenic climate. Outdated data

edit

All the data on the economy, HDI and Gini factors seem to be from 2015 and 2014. Is there a more modern source on the region's economy? Silveratractic (talk) 18:34, 5 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Climate classification

edit

The article cannot classify the region as semi arid here, but as hot summer Mediterranean in the article Iraqi Kurdistan. דולב חולב (talk) 05:16, 2 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

It seems like you are just reverting every edit i’m doing. דולב חולב (talk) 05:17, 2 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
My problem with this edit was not the classification you provided. Also please read my comments at Talk: Beijing. Uness232 (talk) 05:21, 2 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
I’ve read it. So… what was your problem with this edit? You’re not going to expect my edit even if it’s right? דולב חולב (talk) 05:24, 2 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
@דולב חולב I do not find the mess of ungrammatical and unformatted text that you added an improvement. I also think that, especially as the current wording was already sourced, you should have at least sourced your statement. Uness232 (talk) 05:43, 2 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
Isn’t Iraqi Kurdistan a reliable source? דולב חולב (talk) 05:46, 2 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

But come on, you know from the stats of most of the cities in the region that most of the region has a Mediterranean climate. דולב חולב (talk) 08:05, 2 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Kurdistan Region is officially bilingual

edit

An account named “Khassanu” has recently made an edit where they removed Arabic from the list of official languages and added a new list titled “official correspondence languages” and added as the source “constitution article 7ii”. Please be advised that what they sourced is not the regional constitution in effect today. What they sourced is a draft constitution that never came into effect because it was never ratified by the regional parliament, rather, a different constitution that does not include what they mentioned (about correspondence languages) was ratified by the regional parliament in 2009 which is the official constitution of KRI today. In that ratified constitution in effect today (in article 14) it clearly and unambiguously states that Kurdish and Arabic are the two official languages of the Kurdistan Region and no mention of “official correspondence languages” is made. You can see for yourself here -https://kurdistantribune.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/Kurdistan-Draft-Constitution-2009.doc Montblamc1 (talk) 19:22, 25 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Kurmanji as official language?

edit

Where does it state that Kurmanji is official? Tried to look up, but couldn't find. @Khassanu: @Semsûrî:. Beshogur (talk) 11:47, 27 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

The constitution only ascertains "Kurdish" as the official language which for Duhok area means Kurmanji. If I remember correctly, only Sorani is used in official documents of the region. Semsûrî (talk) 13:31, 27 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Is there a proof Kurmanji (Arabic or Latin) is used there?
Kurdistan Region Presidency has both, but Kurdistan Regional Government website hasn't. Beshogur (talk) 14:53, 27 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Sheyholislami writes about it and it is mentioned at Sorani#1990s (Iraq section). With regards to script, its Kurdo-Arabic alphabet for the whole region and not Latin. You can find official sites using the Latin script (this is actually Sorani) but the region uses the Kurdo-Arabic script in official documents. Semsûrî (talk) 15:20, 27 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
