spinnout
editGreat work on expansion of the article :) Now Ulsoor lake and Sankey tank are big enough for own articles. I think we can spinnout those 2. Raise lkblr (talk) 05:27, 2 December 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for the remarks. After this, independent artciles on Ulsoor and Sankey will not be accepted as there would be 'merge' remarks on each of them (I am writing from my past experience even after DYK acceptance). It is better to hold it at what it is for now. May be Madivala Lake could be a next subject or Bangaluru Pete could be another. You may like to start it. I will add to it and it could be jointly nominated if you agree.--Nvvchar (talk) 00:44, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
- As for Madiwala lake, there is article on Madiwala where we can accomodate, boating is stopped in that lake and only park exists so not much to write until they improve lake. I currently cant afford much time for new articles. As of now, the current article need to be wikified and copyedited a little. Regards, Raise lkblr (talk) 04:51, 8 December 2008 (UTC)
- I have spinned out Ulsoor lake and Sankey tank into separate articles, as this article would otherwise be too long. Remarks welcome.. Raise lkblr (talk) 08:27, 18 January 2009 (UTC)
- Raise lkblr, Nvvchar any updates following new changes? FacetsOfNonStickPans (talk) 12:27, 25 December 2022 (UTC)

List of lakes
editUntil 8 September 2022 the list had 7 coloumns-
- Name
- Description
- Surface Area(acres)
- Condition/Maintenance(Good,Poor/(Not)Maintained)
- Water Quality
- Facilities
- Management
In subsequent edits I reduced this to four colomns:- Name, Area (acres), Description, Coordinates
I think the description column should also be removed. This is on the basis of improvements in the article in other sections. Also, a number of lakes have their own articles, these can be improved. I will go ahead and remove this column. I am unsure of the requirement of any other fourth column, so just jotting down the history of the list here for future editors. References used for the list
editThere are two approaches that could be followed for the references that are used to back up the list,
- Use separate references for each. That is use news articles. Some journal articles cover more than one lake.
- Use references like [1] and [2] which have a list of lakes with their sizes.
If approach 2 is followed, the number of references used decreases. More importantly, the size of the lake can differ in both approaches. The #2 lists provide singular interpretation. FacetsOfNonStickPans (talk) 17:36, 17 December 2022 (UTC)

WP:Not Directory
editAt the moment only lakes within Greater Bangalore/BBMP boundary have been included. Only major lakes outside Greater Bangalore but within Urban Bangalore (and Rural Bangalore) have/will been listed. A question that could be raised is whether all lakes within Greater Bangalore are notable enough to include as a list. One of the main reasons for listing all the lakes is to provide the data for the maplink map. The maplink map (seems) to give a balanced overview within a boundary. Minus all images
editWith this edit I have removed all the 25 images from the article. This edit is based on the amalgamation of multiple policies and guidelines. If you want to revert this please do so since such an edit could be a grey area. However I think this edit provides a clearer picture to editors as to which section needs an image and which doesn't. Maybe once the text is improved it will be easier to assess usage of images. FacetsOfNonStickPans (talk) 07:11, 24 November 2022 (UTC)

editThere are some authors that appear in multiple locations in the article,
- T.V. Ramachandra et al (7+ cites/refs), Harini Nagendra (19+ citations/refs), Hita Unnikrishnan (7+ refs), Aksheev Thakur (18 refs)
- Citizen Matters, Bengaluru / Citizen Matters
- ENVIS Technical Reports, IISC / Indian Institute of Science / Environmental Information System (ENVIS)

As per Wikipedia:Reliable sources referencing in the article, including use of the above, remains weak/unsatisfactory at certain locations and there is scope for improvement. FacetsOfNonStickPans (talk) 06:07, 24 December 2022 (UTC)
