The poster picture added by User:JGHowes seems a good addition to the article and so I have restored it. Colonel Warden (talk) 07:46, 2 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

And I have removed it, again. Per WP:NONFREE It does not illustrate anything not already seen in the infobox picture. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 13:45, 2 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
So what? Being listed in a magazine doesn't automatically make it appropriate for inclusion. Most magazines include a snapshot from the film when discussing it. And please cease your inappropriate removal of "rough" from collies. There are multiple types of collies and it needs to be clear which kind Lassie is. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 15:18, 2 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
We are limited to minimal use of non-free content. This particular image is mislicensed (it is not a "poster", as its licensing indicates), and violates WP:NFCC#8, as I can't think of anything that someone would fail to understand about the movie before seeing the picture that he would understand afterwards.—Kww(talk) 15:26, 2 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
File:Lassie Come Home.jpg was originally uploaded as the sole fair use image in this article (for the infobox), until it was replaced last year by a now-banned user with File:LassieCover.jpg If consensus is that 2 non-free images as used here are excessive, then would there be a preference for restoring File:Lassie Come Home.jpg in the infobox instead of File:LassieCover.jpg? IMO, an actual film scene is preferable to artwork from a now-discontinued VHS cover made 60 years after the film's release. (I've now added appropriate non-free templates to File:Lassie Come Home.jpg and fixed licensing, btw)  JGHowes  talk 17:05, 2 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
Actually, it would be more appropriate to replace it with the proper original film poster, rather than the DVD cover or the single scene, which is not an appropriate image for the infobox per WP:MOSFILM. Also, as a note, the VHS cover is not entirely wrong, as the DVD re-release used the same basic image with some slight remastering. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 17:27, 2 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
Indeed, you are right that the current DVD cover is virtually the same as the VHS artwork pictured in File:LassieCover.jpg, so on second thought, that is better for the infobox than nothing at all.  JGHowes  talk 01:22, 4 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
What my suggestion of putting the poster image up instead? Per the MoS and infobox, the theatrical poster is the most preferred image to have. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 01:24, 4 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
I'll upload the poster image. File:LassieCover.jpg will then be deleted as orphaned.  JGHowes  talk 01:32, 4 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
I can upload it if you want, since I already have it. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 01:33, 4 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
Be my guest.    JGHowes  talk 01:39, 4 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
Done. -- AnmaFinotera (talk · contribs) 01:50, 4 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, folks. Glad to see this end so well. (unwatching) tedder (talk) 02:03, 4 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Location

edit

If the Yorkshire project ever comes back they should please note that the movie was actually shot in the USA and that the town of Greenall Bridge is fictitious. Colonel Warden (talk) 07:46, 2 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

It was about Yorkshire that the tag was added not that it was actually shot there. Keith D (talk) 12:40, 2 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
