Revision
editThis page needs some major revision. Lava Canyon was first and foremost not formed by the 1980 eruption and all of the waterfalls within it did exist prior to the eruption. The bedrock formations were not as exposed and the falls weren't accessible prior to the construction of the trail system post-eruption.

- Actually, I think by reading the info present in the article, the author(s) (including me) have probably tried to present the fact that the falls were re-formed recently, but just didn't mention that the falls existed in the past before the mudflows, lahars, etc. buried the canyon. In the entry on Waterfalls Northwest, you wrote this: "canyon that lay covered by dirt, rock and forest for 1800 years". So I probably interpreted that to be that the falls themselves did not exist, but the rock formations did.
- Also, you mentioned that "the Muddy River re-occupied the canyon" so that was what made me think that there was no water feeding the falls prior to the eruption, and so therefore they did not exist. Sorry, though, if the misinterpreted info has been lying around for some time... themaeetalk 00:58, 29 April 2009 (UTC)
