Requested move
edit- The following discussion is an archived discussion of the proposal. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the proposal was This seems to have been created under "legal drama", but evidence suggests that the standard genre name is in fact "courtroom drama". Googling produces 171K hits for the former and 700K hits for the latter; various variations intended to isolate articles about films/shows/television consistently give "courtroom" a 2 to 1 edge over "legal".
We might also consider simply splitting them. Certainly "courtroom dramas" (e.g. Witness for the Prosecution) are recognized as a genre unto themselves. It is possible that shows like L.A. Law which have a wider focus could be considered as a related but distinct genre. Mangoe 15:49, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
And we have Law and Order, also listed here, which is split into a policework section and a courtroom section within each show. It doesn't seem like a good idea to move if it will make the scope narrower than what is already mentioned in the article. Dekimasuよ! 08:17, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
- I'm not sure where you are going with that comment, but if we split them, we could talk about Law and Order specifically under legal drama with reference to the courtroom drama part as a subcomponent. Mangoe 13:03, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
- The beginning of Legal drama says "A legal drama is a work of dramatic fiction about law, crime, punishment or the legal profession. Subtypes of legal dramas include courtroom dramas and legal thrillers", as if not all legal dramas are set in a courtroom. Anthony Appleyard 15:23, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
{{subst:pollbototm}} It was requested that this article be renamed but there was no consensus for it be moved. --Stemonitis 06:38, 22 May 2007 (UTC)
I would add that courtroom dramas often distort legal procedure e.g. lawyers often ask leading questions, which would not be allowed. PatGallacher (talk) 21:50, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
Needs tidying
editThe article is very US-centric, especiallywith respect to examples given. It would also be nice to tidy up the style in places. Agneau (talk) 07:59, 30 August 2009 (UTC)
WorldCat Genres
editHello, I'm working with OCLC, and we are algorithmically generating data about different Genres, like notable Authors, Book, Movies, Subjects, Characters and Places. We have determined that this Wikipedia page has a close affintity to our detected Genere of legal-drama-films. It might be useful to look at [1] for more information. Thanks. Maximilianklein (talk) 23:34, 5 December 2012 (UTC)
- Trial films might be of interest. See also the other sub genres listed in the Legal drama article. 7&6=thirteen (☎) 00:25, 6 December 2012 (UTC)
lead includes novels, but that seems a mistake
editThis article is all about films and television, with a side bit on the stage, right? The lead paragraph mentions novels, but the article has no section about novels and the groups watching do not include novels groups. Perhaps novels should be deleted from the lead paragraph. --Prairieplant (talk) 15:31, 30 June 2015 (UTC)
Not enough information about legal drama
editThis article randomly goes on to talk about crime drama in the middle of the first paragraph and it is confusing and a little distracting. It can easily be confused with having legal drama not featuring the court room, which is untrue. The "plays" section could also use more information; the list of the 12 best plays could be listed along with the honorable mentions. There should at least be a link to the list of the 12 best plays, as it is just there with no outside source. This article lacks information. I don't truly understand what legal drama is therefore I believe this article needs more information. The article does not have a reference section thus I don't see any reliable references. I got confused at the beginning of the article when it talks about legal drama or courtroom drama because I didn't understand if they where the same thing. - Judge Judy needs to retire. She dosebt understand what both sides arw trying to explaine. The case of the older lady trying to push ahead in a car wash even thpugh she stated she was there first which to me means shw wpuld of been ahead of the ypunger lady but she was merging from the right. To me it means she was trying to cut in line. (First lie) Then even with a bad heart the older lady gets out of her car and aproched the other car, stuck her head in the passenger window yelling and spitting during covid withput a mask on. The younger lady in late 20's saud she felt threatened and bopped hwr on the face whrn she threw a empty pringles can at her to get her out of her car to leave the situation. Felt she was going to possibly shoot her or stab her. You nevwr know. If she was crazy enough to aproacj and spit in her face crawling in her window what ekse is this crazy lady cappable of? I agree. Then calls police like she waa in the right. The girl lost her job and wages becayse of the charges against her. They were dropped. Then the girl sewed for lost wages which I feel sge deserved. The oldee lady had a heart attack of course but judy asked for no records. Blamed the young lady for causing the heart attack but didnt agree the charges wete the reason for the job twrmination and loss of wages. If I had a bad heart that was her own fault she couldnt control her emotions to stay in hwr car. To go over to another persons car and scream at that person. This womab has anger issues. So does judge Judy. Big anger issues. Nobody on her show geys it. You can tell by the looks they all have when she dusrespects peolle over and over and acusrs them of being dishonest. It wasent the young ladys fault or did she cayse anyone to have a heart atrack. That was souly on her own decision to escilade the issue by getting out of her car. I would of dotted both of her eyes for spitting in my face. 2601:541:81:1970:5B79:455B:4644:3F1A (talk) 04:09, 14 August 2023 (UTC)
Judge Judy loosing her ability to be calm, unbiased, and impartial which is her job.
editMaking othwrs on her show have doubts but afraid to make a comment. Fear in both their eyes. Maybe she needs medication or dosent her family care enough to stop her from making more mistakes. Shes a very educated lady who deserves respect of us all. Been watching her for years if possible. I work so Im sure she would have a comment about that. Nursing for 29 years but she would somehow turn it around to be unfit mother or marry money so tou dont have to work. Her judgement is off. Thank you, much respect but concerned consequences made due to her verdics against wrong people. 2601:541:81:1970:5B79:455B:4644:3F1A (talk) 04:18, 14 August 2023 (UTC)
